Oh, question. Do I need to plug the unit in and run it once I’ve used etcher to write the OS to the SD card, and then install ROMs after I’ve done that? I saw a message on discord that seemed to suggest that was the case? If anyone can confirm and save me some faffing that would be awesome.

Adjust PSU to 5.25V (certainly no more than this with nothing plugged in)

Burn the image, boot it up in the pi, set up language and joystick. It will restart and resize the card.

You can drop roms and images in there.

They will then appear in the menu.

Cheers, Col

Yeha all verified. Downloaded the OS and etched it, have all my ROMS on my laptop ready after I've tested the unit. Just checked my voltages on the cab PSU and about to plug it in.

Wish me luck!

All I see is a garbled image. I can hear sound but I assume there must be a setting I need to change. Anyone have any ideas what that might be? ThanksRichMurrills2019-11-09 13:43:15

Its probably not related to that then. I thought there may be an issue if you were trying to display the 15Khz signal on 25 Khz medium resolution monitor.

Possibly check the Pi and OS on a different monitor to see if it displays at all, and whether you can adjust the display settings?

Oh, also try adjusting the Horizontal/vertical sync pots on your cab.

Yes been there getting various bits.

I now have another issue

Formatted my SD card, showed as 16GB. Used etcher to write the OS to the card, plugged it in to the cab and it told me it was expanding something (it was in Spanish).

Have now gone to add my ROMs to the card on my Mac and it's showing as being about 44MB.

Grrrrrrrr. I shall not let this thing beat me though

Just looking at this myself, Haven't got as far as installing the OS yet but I think you'll need to SSH into the system to transfer roms etc..

Don't think the mac or PC for that matter will be able to write to the SD card because it's now in a Linux format.

I did wonder if that would be the case. Noticed wifi seems to be disabled on the Pi (according to the menus on the RGB-Pi screens) so need to get that enabled and see if I can SSH in.

Nothing's ever easy lol

Yeah its been a pain from the ordering process then to discord then tele-wotsit now finding a way to Transfer the roms... Geez Louise. you'd think they'd put everything in one place with some more direct instructions.

I'm putting together some clearer instructions once I'm done and I'll post them here. Hopefully will make things easier for anyone else who gets one. I think once it's up and running it'll be a good bit of kit.

I believe that there is a more straightforward way, to put your ROMs on a separate USB drive. However, I think you have to mount the blank USB drive first, boot up the Pi once and go into settings to recognise the USB, and then put your ROMs into the file structure it creates.

It was on the discord somewhere up in the old comments. I believe the comments referred to a USB pendrive only not an external drive but you could try.
