I'm going to try and get there before it opens so I can start taking photos of the place before it opens officially if that's cool? Will pay to get in of course but would be nice to get some hi res photos before the crowds start going into the venue.

Yes just 1.5 days of working until we start preparing for the trip !!!

We will be picking up Oll's Sega Bomber Friday night from Robins storage and finally try to play it. Then we remove the CP to make the cab and the three of us fit in the car :)

We start to drive at 5 AM from Ridderkerk.....

I have a question: what would be the quickest route to drive from Folkestone ? I get different results with different route planners. All of them say the M25 heading to London and then the M23 heading south to Brighton is the quickest route, but one says the "coastal" route via Hastings is only 7 minutes longer driving, and it would be nice to drive another road than the M25 in the UK for a change ;);)

However my TomTom gives the coastal route a much longer travel time, probably because they are not M ways ?

Since we have a tight fit with 3 guys and a cab in the car I don't want to spend too much extra time....

Also, what is this about a Chinese meal ? :)

Oll, did you sell the Hanti monitor already ?

Hey Andre,

The Chinese meal is on the Friday at 6:30 - the guys that are setting up the machines are eating here. If you are coming for this time tomorrow maybe we can fit you in? Of course you are welcome to help set up the machines also!

The Hanty is currently reserved for PaulS, but I can dig that WG2000/G05 out for you no problem!

Best bet is to ask Will mate! his email should be on the SCS website ('slam not sofa one ;-) )

yes its all single lane windy roads that are notorious for bad traffic but a much nicer view :)

Right, if all goes well, we should be running a classic vids *tournament* on the Saturday!

Similar to last year but with a few tweaks, pay a few quid (price tbc) and choose 5 or 6 machines to play from a line-up of 7 or 8 machines.

Scores ranked against all the other players of each machine and your scores on all your machines totalled give a final order. Then, some sort of knock-out final to arrive at a winner.

Last year there were 25 competitors, with Greg Mott, Ian Boffin and Rav C finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

This year, I'm guessing there'll be some more vaccer's this time, judging by the buzz on the forum, so maybe we can hit 40+ competitors? Either way, make sure you enter early, otherwise you might get stuck in a pile-up before the qualification deadline later on (and besides, people tend to get better scores earlier in the day).

Even if you're not competing, if come on over and say "Hello!", I'm the little dude with the skinhead and flat-round glasses.

And remember, it's for fun, most people are crap at gaming, so you won't be the only one. The tournament is NON-PROFIT, all proceeds go back to pay for the show, you owe it to your hobby to have a go

If you've been to any of the shows before, you'll know things like tournaments don't just run themselves.

Already Rav, Oll, DanP, P-man and others are prepping their machines for the weekend events.

If you're a couch-vaccer or lurker, wondering how you can help, I'd really appreciate your assistance running the tournament. Just an hour of your time at the tournament area would be great. You get to meet loads of people you didn't know before, bit like working in a bar but with not many girlies.

If you can help, please reply here directly, or by PM, email, or as a last resort at the video tournament desk on Friday night or Saturday morning. Or at the Chinese. Hey, you could even pop round my house.

(Note, I'm flying into the UK tonight i.e. Thursday.)

See you all at the Slam!

Oll: Afraid we cant be ther fridaynight, we are all working Friday and Erik still has a party on fridaynight...Pieter is coming over to my place fridaynight and we will be picking up the Bomber.and the Eurotunnel fares are set in stone this time because of it being one of the busiest weekends in the year according to them....sorry because we sure would have liked to help you guys setting up !

Gonna take my chances with the G05/2000 hybrid I've got here right now, I managed to score a TV with the right tube with no burn :):)

The Hanti was extra special because of it being a Hanti AND NIB !

Well its clear enough for me that we will take the M25/23 route....we are coming over for SCS and to see you guys, the scenery will have to wait until another time ;)

I'm travelling from Folkestone and always use the coastal route, never have any problems and less chance of getting stuck than on a motorway...
