Hey everyone... As the video game organiser for the SCS12 Slam team, I feel its about time I said a few thoughts, comments and thanks to the whole slam - its been a MASSIVE undertaking for the last couple of months, and indeed the few weeks before the slam have been frenetic! Its also going to be a long post so sorry if its a slow read...

Rav (and all the others who helped).....having organized Eurocade I know how it is, after the event you feel like you "missed talking to everyone". You try to balance your time to talk to everyone but constantly things to do, usually not even visible for the visitors...

So a HUGE thank you to all the people who worked their %$$ off to make this possible !

Also I am extremely pleased to hear you are planning to make it to Eurocade, and I know Oll has the same intentions. By all means, if any other of the UK guys want to make it over, you are most welcome and bringing a cab (although much welcomed) is NOT mandatory to join the fun !

About Steve Ritchie: I got some footage of him fixing something on the AC-DC, I thought that was pretty funny, probably the best/most expensive tech to get to work on your machine ;)

Hear hear Rav! well put.

I had a great time, ignore the detractors!

I think its the first time that cocktail machines have been in a bar setting at a meet, ever! Fantastic..

Now i have to fix my space invaders which didn't survive the weekend, shouldn't be too hard : )

it was one of my highlights to walk into the bar, grab a beer and sit and play Moon Cresta, havent played that since i would skive off school to get pissed in the afternoon so the setting was just perfect! A shame to hear it wont be happening again next year but the news it should be on for 2014 is great, i think the last thing that would be needed is for those who put so much effort into making it a success start to feel jaded with it, having a year off to recover is a great idea...

Some video stuff from Slam.... BE SURE TO SWITCH TO 1080p !!!

Regretfully it turned out my SD card AND the internal memory of my camera were full......should have emptied them before leaving !! :( O well....at least it shows the cabs.

Well I thought the building isexcellent and quite atmospheric for an event like this. The high rooms made it actually very comfortable regarding temperatures IMHO. However, the acoustic is pretty reflective there. I was glad being able to walk out now and then. But hey, every place has its advantages and drawbacks. the Eurocade location has low ceilings and a flat roof. Not a problem normally but since Eurocade was blessed with the hottest day of the entire summer in 2011 it got really hot with the machines not helping much either :)

I do find it great that we have a totally seperate bar area with a real bar and lots of stools and tables and seats and without any games. This really gives you the possibility to meet eachother and talk with eachother and get some rest between gaming sessions. I missed that a bit at SCS.

But again, the building more or less dictates this. It was great fun, and I'm sure we'll return some year !

One of the biggest problems here was the obnoxiously loud NBA pinball machines they parked in there. I had to keep leaving the bar area to give my ears a rest, we were all having to shout at the top of our lungs to be heard.. i remember the year previously this was much more of a social sit and chat area.. the cocktail table games are fine in such an area, but the pinballs should not make a return for the next event...

just my tuppence worth :)
