that arkon is weird, a video game thats actually a pinball, still balances up with the hyperball I suppose - a pinball that thinks it's a video game!

Yes, both those games are mental although I ultimatley found Varkon more enjoyable. Hyberball I still couldn't quite suss, was I shooting at lightening bolts or spelling letters, or both?

Anyhow, Judge Dredd on supergame was a win as far as I'm concerned.

I think you were playing that Judge Dread next to me on that Dr Dude Pinball.

Hehe. Sorry, probably was me, would have said hello but got caught up in the heat of the moment swaying my ex workmate to the darkside of pinball.

Really enjoyed myself. Went over today with an old mate and fellow Jamma+ member. Really enjoyed playing games For Real for the first time, as opposed to on MAME (forgive me, I'm only 26). Spent good time bonding with Space Invaders 2, Ms Pac Man, Galaga, Start Wars, Defender, a little bit of Gorf and Joust too.

Had a spin on Scud Race. Used to play this a lot on an upright in my local kebab. It was real beat up and the accelerator and brake were wired backwards! Nice to play a mint one.

Anyway, here are some pics, they're pretty poor but better than nothing.

Did any of the machines there belong to fellow members?

The mame cab, Gorf, Toobin , Smash TV and Defender (with the coin chute! - as came from the op in 93) were mine.

Good to see a lot of you guys there again like Rav, Phil, Dave, Ian, Andy, Mike, Karl and Oll.

Fab event and cheers to Will for organising it, Rav for bringing along all his vids (and for fixing the Defender with Dave) and to Phil and Adeline for running the vid comp.

Just got to go and collect my vids and pins tomorrow from Worthing.

Cheers

Greg

Well.... I cant believe Im still up trying to watch the superbowl - feels like jetlag! Utterly exhausted but had a great time..

The Scud and Asteroids were Will's and bar Greg's 4 machines I think I had the majority of cabs there - its a real shame I missed the opporuntity to meet some of you guys who came along - should've worn a ukvac t-shirt or something noticable - regardless glad you had a good time.

As always, great to see those that did make an appearance, particularly nice for me to see Chris Achchay (and 2 kids), Ian Boffin (sorry I knocked your iphone out of your hand again dude), but also everyone else who I had a chance to natter, drink a beer with, and generally flake out with. Gotta say thanks to Dave Langley for helping me with sound boards even though the Robotron's monitor to exact revenge by melting down!

We'll definately have to do more hi-scoring at events and Phil Eaton's software and PDA input system is truly inspiring and its just a damn shame we didnt get to plug it more at the show - but Im also not complaining - I pulled off a third place! Mustnt forget to also say how cool Phil's and Daves partners threw themselevs into everything from scoring in vid and pin competitions, to playing games and generally doing everything - really nice to see :)

In addition I made some great friends in the pinball community - a real eye opener and Im definate Ill do more pin meets and perhaps keep plugging "vids" to these "pinheads" :) I know for sure I'll be trying to arrange some beery evenings with Will and co-organiser Ivan (his wicked trippy Defender psych-out tent was legendary) as they are true agents of arcade goodness!

Shame cabs failled to work under pressure - Dig dug (ram/rom), Stargate at the end (ram), bubble bobble (pcb), virtua striker (monitor), robotron (monitor), virtua fighter 3 (screwy hangs and general input weirdness), my Judge Dredd (chip U20 on cpu pcb Im reliably told!),Roadrunner (power issue and general abversion to being played), HOTD (2P Gun death)... Oh well

Still allot worked well...

And finally... a great smile, wink and nod to our mate Dave Orton who takes my award for the best arcade pose playing Galaga :)

Anyhow, great time had, good to see everyone. Last quick Apology to Bluebird34 who was sharing some pin games with when I got dragged away to credit this, tinker with that - sorry not to have said goodbye dude :)

Roll on the next meet I say :) Now to go lie down and wait for poor Will and Ivan to drop my cabs back over tomrrow!!!

I was playing Puzzle Bobble on the JAMMA cab next to the Defender tent at one point and hadn't realised there was a smoke machine. It then kicked out a load of smoke and nearly sh*t myself! Thought the cab or something was on fire for a second

Thanks to everyone that came along and supported the event, I hope you all enjoyed it I know I did. And major thanks go out to Greg, Dave , Phil and of course Rav who without his support this would have been just another pinball show, instead of the awesome arcade it turned out to be
smiley16.gif

I hope next year will be even bigger and better and hope to get the numbers of vids up so hopefully some of you guys might be tempted to help make it an even bigger success next year.

We also raised over £1.300 for the teenage cancer trust , thanks again and hope to catch up at one of Rav's meets when the weather starts to get warmer.

Cheers

In the pinball community, that's known as standing in the 'Dutch Position'. See any of the top Dutch players in action and you'll know why. (But don't stand too close.)

Regarding Dave in action, here's another from the CGE2005 event in Croydon:

I think it was a SW Trilogy. Get in there Dave!

hahahahaha

In America that game-playing leg stance is called the 'Silly Bitchell' - after Billy Mitchell - who has to play like that cos he's too damn tall.
