Looking great!

With regards to the vinegar, if you have any bolts that are too mangled to fix I've been using spaldingfasteners.co.uk to replace all the bolts, washers and other fittings for my resto.

They are super fast at delivery and provide a great service.

On the vinegar what kind? and how long does it need soaking for?

Ronnie

I just used some cheap brown value stuff from the spar mate , it works after a few hours . I left it over night on the speaker grills and then just cleaned with wire wool , it really does work a treat :)

Absolutely any will do, the cheaper the better probably, however I normally raid the back of the cupboard and use whichever looks the mankiest!!!! Red wine, cider, etc.

I then put the bolts, washers, nuts, etc in a plastic bottle (NOT GLASS!), which has a lid, and then leave it for 24hours, giving it a shake (Tom Cruise, Clocktail style) everytime I walk past it, just to agitate it a bit. If it's really bad it might need a re-fresh with some fresh vinegar and another 24 hour soak, but it really does work, the stuff will come out looking all shiny and new like NOS.

Give it a go.

Neil.

Cheers, I have a couple of lamp holders sat in white vinegar overnight but they look the same, might need a rub too

Good tip on the plastic sticky pads. I might look for some Velcro sticky pads for mine.

I used gorilla glue for my matting. At the time I thought it was overkill. But it did the job!!dj_yt2015-06-09 20:45:43

Restoring a Hang-On/Super Hang-On is a whole different level of restoration.
I do a Hang-On myself at the moment and I know what I am talking about, if you want to make it good it is much more effort than any other machine.
