I think it's one of those cases of 'you don't have to buy it'. It is very likely the last console I will buy as I just don't like modern gaming as much. But it is Nintendo and I know I will get it eventually so why not now? I got my original Switch on launch so my money got me 8 years with it. Mario Kart looks really cool. As for game prices, yeah it's nuts but there is some logic to looking at old games. I got ISS 64 in 1997 and paid £65 that is a lot more than what Mario Kart costs. GTA will be a £100 game.

I meant Metroid Prime 4 although it’s a good question. I’m late to the party with Metroid I’ve only just finished Super Metroid and Dread in the last couple of years.

I love them both, trying to do Prime now but the pacing is making it feel like a slog. The remastered version is great though, enhanced running at 1440p would be even better.

@John Bennett you have given me flashbacks to the time I traded Road Rash 2 for some absolute stinker called Stormlord. 😭
Yes there will be an enchanced version of Mertriod Prime 4 for switch 2 that will run at 4k 60fps HDR in quality mode docked and 1080p 120fps HDR in performance mode docked.

The game prices are horrific and I can't believe it isn't launching with a follow up to Mario Odyssey!? That came out over 7 years ago so it's not like they haven't had enough time to make it.

Social media is full of shill accounts and bots trying to convince everyone that £75 is fine for a game because of inflation. There's pics of adverts going around of Snes games in the 90s for $90+ but it was in Canadian dollars not US dollars and most people completely fell for it and now believe it's a fair price.
Yeah you are right about it not launching with a sequel to Mario Odyssey after 7+ years but have you seen the the Donkey Kong game coming to Switch 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, you can tell its been inspired by Mario Odyssey

Snes games were incredibly expensive back in the 90's. I remember street fighter 2 being £100 on import.
That was because we were getting super Famicom SF2 a year before the UK version came out so they could charge what they liked on import as it was the only way of getting it.

i don't think the "we were paying £65 for a N64 game" holds weight TBH, for example Mario Kart 8 is £38, Zelda is £45, so we have example of new games being produced and sold for a profit at that price point

Just because people are stupid enough to pay a high price for something, doesnt mean it is worth it

You could even argue that Mario Kart on the new system is just re-using lots of old graphics and textures, so should be even cheaper

it's just Nintendo taking the piss

Had the pre order “invite” e-Mail from Nintendo today. I’m going to wait a few months until after launch before pulling the trigger though to see if it’s worth it.

Waiting for an OLED model, Zelda special edition (inevitable) hopefully this pricing mess will be sorted and all the games I have not started yet will have Switch 2 patches and run at 60fps. Second Nintendo launch that I have not ordered, putting it down to getting old!

I tried to get an invitation to buy from Nintendo as I really want the GameCube Controller but not got one yet :(
Bugger. I forgot to order one of those.

You may still get an invite if you qualify (need to have an online subscription), as they're obviously staggering invites to prevent server meltdown. I had to wait in a queue to access the site.
