I've started listening, got up to the featured game start so far, but don't want to forget what I might type as feedback, so will start now and update later.

Yes, your blog/write up thing sounds a good idea, go for it.
Like the Pacman song - that's pretty cool, I wonder how many mash ups there are out there of old classic game tunes.
I was also bidding on that Trimline SI cab, I fell in love with them after that one popped up on here fairly recently for sale. I am really loving the smaller cabs now and just love that 80s pub look about this one. Sadly I mis-read the end time, I was outside painting and came in to find I had missed the auction end by 5mins. Can't say I wanted to spend loads on trying to get it, with the cost of delivery and then a PCB ontop, if the rest of it even worked, could have become very expensive. Does make you wonder though how often on the forums we are all bidding against each other on stuff.

Just signed up for info on these new Vans, are there any pictures out there of what they look like? I guess they could be subtle and cool looking or just plain outright awful.

More to follow...
In terms of the game of the month, it sound pretty awful, so doubt I will ever try the game now. I did half laugh when gun shot went off whilst reading out the scorers names, very well edited in.

Been catching up on the podcasts whilst converting half my garage to an arcade... the 10 Pence Orchestra make me laugh out loud every time... not always safe when wielding power tools!

Vic, you did get the Vectrex processor wrong when you mentioned it but sure it was just a verbal "typo" as you obviously know it's a 6809... you did say 7809 though :p

On the subject of Vectrex, you mentioned the arcade game Solar Fox the other week; there's actually a recent homebrew Vectrex game called Marine Fox based on it and it's freely available as a rom:

http://vectrex.wikia.com/wiki/Marine_Fox

I'll be sure never to play Peter Pack Rat on your recommendation, you do wonder sometimes if anyone ever play tested a game when it has so much annoying stuff in it!

Just finished listening to it today and since you didn't like it I'm glad I completely forgot to play it and continued on with Bank Panic instead. Someone beat me to it but I've also managed to get 54,000 on the first round and I think its possible to get even more as well.

Also you mentioned Phoenix has a 6809, that must explain why my hacks don't work as I've been programming them for an 8085

Hey Guys.

Another great podcast. My ears pricked up when you played that Pac-Man remix tune as I know that one quite well.

A while back I did a quest on YouTube for Pac-Man remixes and I found a lot. Some great tunes, some not so great.

Here is a cd's worth of decent remixes for your gaming listening pleasure

Cyrus the virus - Pacman XSI Remix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90A-Gay5uSI

Benjie - Powerpill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq_jeaOKYSA

M2J Pacman's Revenge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n3PixpD6k8

Aphex Twin - Powerpill (Power pill mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjEDX-2M7Qk

Clubzound - Pac Man (Dirty Dutch Remix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghVdGQxTbjo

Mickey Finn - Powerpill (Yum Yum Mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caOjRlJQ63I

A-Lista Electro Pac Man (Original mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKvHdBpypSE

Aphex Twin - Powerpill (Ghost Mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUme9L7h_pw

A J Klaproth - Pac-Man (AJ Klaproth mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmOhKjn5drA

And My Favourite of all the Pac Man Remixes:

Andrew Allen - Pac-Man Theme (Jazz Piano Trio) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hXctppzm68

If you can be bothered to check the list out, you can hear most of them on this video: https://www.twitch.tv/kewydee_17/v/28400500 Music starts 3 mins into video.

Cheers

Hi guys, another good listen whilst at work this weekend. Apologies for the lengthy feedback but found I had a lot to talk about – feel free to edit accordingly!!

Liked the opening introductions to the Take Hart Theme tune, oh how I loved that programme.

I too tried the Samsung Gear VR last weekend whilst in Edinburgh and was surprised at how much I liked it and no feeling of motion sickness which I do get with the Occulus Rift. At only £80 for the headset it is very accessible too, obviously you need an S6 or S7 already.

Also, I have to agree with car boot prices too. I went to one the other week and one guy had his entire table filled with early console games, PS1 era, but wanted ridiculous money for some non-rare titles. This is a car boot for goodness sake! I wished him well and offered him a hand at the end of the day to put all the stuff back in his car that he wouldn’t’ve sold. Clown!

It was good to hear the return of the 10p Orchestra – one of their best I thought!

At the risk of having the disapproving sheep bleating at me, I do kinda get why some may prefer 1943 over 1942 (cue, sharp intake of breath!!). For me, in any vertical shooter, I appear to be much better at attracting the bullets towards me than I ever am at avoiding the damn things, which 1943 is somewhat more forgiving in than it’s predecessor. Both top games though.

You asked for some feedback on a possible future inclusion of Vic’s Fiddling – (maybe a better title being ‘Vic’s Idle Hands’) – I would warmly welcome such a feature, being an active ‘tinkler’ myself and always looking to improve my knowledge and see what others are doing. If I may suggest though that this might be better suited to some kind of blog, with real words and proper pictures, as I think this subject field would be better conveyed to an audience in this format, as opposed to listening to you trying to describe your handiwork over the audio-waves.

And whilst we are talking of tinkering, thanks for the feedback on Twitter re my recent scratch built arcade stick. Well happy with how it turned out, artwork from Olly really bringing it together. Maybe now, I can stop trying to play mame stuff on a laptop keyboard and get myself onto the Ten Pence Podium…. Super impressed at what my little RPi2b can handle – although it wasn’t happy with Peter Crap Rat, maybe it knew how bad the game really was!!

I’ve had a quick bash at Gunbird (using my shiny new stick!), and whilst I want to love these style of shooters, I am simply pants at them, I will persevere though, however it’s so frenetic, after an hour of playing my button hand is in bits, with cramps that I have never since experienced since finding a bunch of my dad’s mags when I was sixteen!!

Keep flagellating.

Great podcast guys!

I've never played Peter Pack Rat, and probably won't ever try now!!!

I've got a prototype PCB for it, sadly (really sadly? Not so sure now) missing roms. It's totally different hardware to System1
before i guess they dumped it and moved the game to System1.

It's surprising the game made it into production - field tests must have been favourable? A lot better games have never passed field test.

Shaun, did you know Konami have released a new Road Fighter game? Road Fighter 3D? Check out the game and cabinet - it's crazy.

See you at the next meet,

Oliver

ps it's time for some Balloon Crazyiness surely.

Sorry not listened to the podcast. Are you referring to Midnight Run RoadFighter, and Balloon Fight?

I knew that Midnight Run was called Road Fighters 2 but I didn't know about this. There are confusing stories about this - some say it was released in Japan in 2010 but there's also news about a game from last year - same game?
