I have feedback for your 1943 pod - just I am really slow in writing it! Will listen to the new one soon
Hi Vic and Shaun, I enjoyed your latest pod as usual. Just a couple of Neo Geo corrections. I think Victor said Cleopatra Fortune was a Neo Geo game and Shaun said 1944 The Loop Master was. But neither are. Strikers 1945 Plus is a Neo Geo game, and Ghost pilots is too. So maybe Shaun is thinking of one of those.
Interesting to hear Victor talk about the Quarter Arcade machines. I did wonder if Vic would get a Dig Dug one. It looks like they have done a really good job. I have 3 myself - Pacman Anniversary (I was lucky to find a signed one), Bubble Bobble (which is 2 player) and Polybius. I agree they are great quality and get the details right. However! Given how authentic they are, I do think it's a shame that the screen is a LCD. I wish they could do something to make it look it more like an original arcade monitor with a curved display. And also without the viewing angle issues you get with LCDs. I only use mine for display purposes - since I'm not really into playing on a small screen with tiny controls - so for me this would make them perfect
While talking about mini arcade cabs : I recently got the Taito Egret Mini II which I like a lot. It is quite expensive but it does feel much higher quality than some of the mini machines (e.g. the Neo Geo mini which does look like a lump of moulded plastic with stickers on) I didn't know a lot of the games beforehand and that really appealed to me. The rotating screen is great and works in a very satisifying way. The extra controllers :the arcade controller and the trackpall and spinner are very good. There is a new SD card of 10 games coming out soon. I think it will cost maybe £50-£60 though which is quite a lot
I have a game suggestion for you for the future : Prehistoric Isle in 1930. Also I heard on one your pods that you would never do Rainbow Islands. But I think it's an ideal game for you to do - since you might get a reverse ten pence effect and find out that you enjoy it when you do play it in-depth. You never know!
Also idea for a new feature : Victor reviews an Amiga arcade conversion each month
Thanks for the pod guys and Merry Xmas!
