Would be good to do a "where are they now" thread for those cabs. Maybe before/after pics (for those that arent still on the "to do" restore list)Milky2021-02-05 20:28:26

I first heard about this story from a guy at work, he was saying did you ever hear about all those classic video games they found untouched for 30 years on a ship? At the time I didn't know about it and was eager to find out more, so in the evening after work I trawled the internet to try and find more information about it.

I first found the story on Tony Temple's blog and then rummaged through YouTube to watch the videos. It's a great story and one of the best raids ever.

It was also after reading about this story which lead me to sign up to UKVac

I have it.

I took Subs, Space Chaser and Galaxy Wars.

I later purchased an Asteroids and Galaxian. Bought the Asteroids only last November!

Any of them running?

Beat me to it.

I have one board of the space chaser three board set and am hoping I can stumble across the others but it's a rare game so it'll be nice to know one is at least working.

Just read it all now.

What an epic journey by Bruno and Chris to be part of this raid. Another great story and fantastic write-up. Just goes to show the lengths some of us in this hobby go to just to get a classic game

Who got the Star Fighter cab? It certainly would be interesting to see where these cabs are now and any restoration pictures etc.,

Yes Galaxian is fully restored but had to put a new monitor in it. It also has Macros multi kit.

Asteroids I need a PCB for at the moment.

Subs is missing the PCBs, I have a lead on some, and Tony recently found a pic of the machine in Atari Ireland which was cool.

Galaxy Wars was missing the PCB and I only last year finally found the correct PCB for it.Alpha12021-02-06 16:17:17

Oh forgot the Space Chaser. This was missing the PCB, back door and metal retainer on the control panel.

I got a working PCB for it and found an original back door AND the control panel metal retainer.

Now works but it was in good condition so I didn't want to restore it.

I have one of the Asteroids from it.
I put in a pcb, recapped the monitor/psu and it has worked flawlessly for a long time. The cab art is in an amazing condition. It's nice to be able to own/admire something from the impressive work these guys achieved.

I have recently just restored the sidam explorer,or one of them I have both.the second will follow soon, with the great help of Lurch666 who did the hardest part, which was repair both pcb sets.infact the guy did 3 of the pcb sets with the generosity of macro also for supplying another pcb.one of the explorers had (the end) so I can switch between both games.
I need to gather my pics and note really and post a thread.
This lives along side many others now in my rooms..

I think it's really interesting to find out what happened to machines that were rescued in a raid. Excellent to hear that many machines are back to working order and being played.

I remember the Duke of Lancaster weekend, purely because I remember being in bed with the cold/flu and wishing that I was involved in such an epic story
