Oh yeah same 5 bolts good spot! May just be a coincidence though as the one in the vid doesn't even have the correct control panel and as you say diff coin door, although the cp may have been put back on and coin door changed at a later date so it's possible it's the same one.

As for the marquee, this cab did have the original marquee in it. He must have got a repro made that he felt looked better than the Electrocoin one with the large instruction panel? Here's a pic before he refurbed it.

has that black area been painted, the edge looks uneven thought it could be the t molding edge that's bad, I don't remember seeing that before but it was many years ago
That's bizzare with the coin doors then because i don't remember seeing any other cabs with doors like that, has it got a metal plate on inside of door to help stop theft I wonder? can't think of any other reason for 5 bolt heads being there, usually just end up with holes on sides of cab from those bars with padlock so what's chances of only 2 street fighters cabs I'm seeing them on, not impossible but even so, the door would have been replaced if it was mine and CPO and Marquee left original, it does say it's repro marquee olly did and has the original, not a problem if you have original

Amazes me when SF1 gets talked about and most say it's not great game, but this was 1987 and SFII wasn't out till 1992, 5 years is a long time in the 80's for an updated game and with 1990/1991 the last time I was in my Local Arcades I didn't even see SFII. I get why more like it but SF1 for it's day with huge characters really was awesome and I remember that clearly along with the cool back drops, can't remember which arcade it was in though, maybe Thomas's like Shinobi was I'm sure

Yes I agree, what are the odds that 2 of the same cab both have a metal plate bolted on behind the door in the exact same way when you almost never see this method used?

As a kid in 1987 it blew my mind! Graphically it was mind blowing and while I wasn't good at it I never thought it wasn't a good game.

If I remember correctly I think he painted around the whole side art with white so it all looked the same white.

I so wanted to buy that Deluxe Street Fighter John Bud got, There just huge though and I would have to sell 2 other cabs or another big one to fit it in but what a thing to have had.
Probably never even played it in the arcade like many, at home I was on International Karate, Renegade and Barbarian which were decent games
It's same bashing Double Dragon gets when it's compared to Final Fight but you need to compare these games with others out same year or even the next year and then you see how good they were, nothing compared to them prior to 1987 though I do like Renegade a lot too

It was Street Fighter 1 Deluxe, Think I seen photo's of it but not sure if I saved any, probably Matt has some  The one man arcade machine library :)
Guessing it was Electrocoin made as they had them on the Flyers, I did talk to him about it but I sadly came to my senses and didn't buy it

Not sure which type machine I saw in the Local Arcades

Still gathering stickers / manuals ready to scan in .
This is Anorak stuff 😂
Know this is our Electrocoin safe space so here goes

Did all machines legally need to display that Levy had been paid ?
This is the cleanest and most complete I have come across.

Of course :) it was missing the pneumatic buttons as expected and also the cpo art. I tried my best to buy It but it ended up in Austria sadly.

Here's my Midi when I had just moved it from the house. I remember when I first got it I couldn't believe how small and easy to maneuver it was so I decided at that moment there would be no more big cabs and I'd try and get a few more Midi's and have a nice row of them at one end. I then bought 2 more Goliaths and 2 other fat ass cabs, I just couldn't resist! Now I have nowhere to stand :(

This one came with a control panel that had a big dint in it which made me very happy as it was a great excuse to finally use this new old stock Midi control panel that I had bought from an op. It really did and still does look brand new.

Lovely cabinet Matt ! Looks super clean and the control panel layout is cool.
Do you have a personal favourite EC cabinet in your collection ?

Cheers Ant. I could have cleaned the dust of the glass though.

Good question, probably the dedicated Salamander. It's a game I've loved since I was a kid so when I found out that Electrocoin made a dedicated and it was in a Goliath it went straight to the top of my hit list. The only problem was that they're so rare it took around 15 years to get one. I absolutely love the artwork too, it's pretty much perfect if you ask me.
I remember playing it a lot in a local arcade (Silverstrike in Birkenhead) 2 player with my Dad. I was only around 12 or 13 but i remember the cabinet was huge so could well have been a Goliath.

How about you, what's your favourite you've owned so far?

Your dedicated Salamander is an absolute Beauty,. I completely get it when you talk about the memories of playing it (especially with your dad !) tied in with your pursuit in finding it !
I think we were very fortunate in the North west with the Arcades we had available in late 80s/ 90s. I remember going to countess bowling and quazar parties as an early teenager in Aintree (Super Bowl and Megabowl ) 10 minutes apart and the arcades were spectacular! Must have been 15-20 dedicated machines in both .
It was the first time I ever played a Neo geo 4 slot and marveled at the attract mode of Magician Lord and wondered who in the area would be able to make use of the memory card slot ! 😂
I find it hard to pick one but certainly a Neo geo cabinet I picked up in 2023 is a firm favourite . It was sold as faulty, no display and the credit timer was going haywire when powered up. I took a chance as cpo was original, glass screen print was complete which is less common - normally cut for credit info. Memory card slot had been broken off and no keys !
The machine had spent some of its life at an army barracks in Finland , light stenciling on the top stating ‘army property’. It was only later on when I moved it next to an another version that I noticed it was slightly shorter in height - approx 5 cm and the front door area was 15mm not 18mm faced melamine. There is also a faint electrocoin stencil on each side - all original and perhaps a slightly different version Electrocoin had made ?
Anyway treated all the metalwork and got it working - the Hantarex psu was in a poor state and monitor flyback failed but as of now it is running great with the original 6 slot.

Beauty! I love a machine with a bit of history like that, I wonder if they had NAM-1975 in it.
Wow 50mm shorter, that's quite a difference! I did always want one of these but missed out when they were fairly cheap then people started selling them for around £1000 which is when I gave up on ever having one. The first time I saw one was in Blackpool and it was the loudest machine in the arcade.

There certainly were tonnes of arcades around back then. I don't think I went bowling there in the 90s but I do remember a large themed amusement place in Aintree by the showcase cinema late 90s. I don't think it lasted long.

Nam 1975 would have been fitting for an army base 😂 maybe not the sort of thing army personal want to unwind with in the mess tent after a live fire exercise
The amount of arcades in Southport in the 90s was something else. I remember the row of goliaths in Silcocks and the Mad dog Mcree at Funland, wish more photos existed .
Happy times and memories tho !

If anyone requires any size of fully reconditioned button screws used on the majority of Electrocoin cabinets you are welcome to message me. They have been through a 3 step blackening process (any rust removed with mild alkaline, blackening fluid, dewatering oil to protect)
I also have sets which has been sprayed to match the metal work on xenon.
