At least namco used 15khz screens in their games instead of 24khz so you have more of a chance of sourcing a half decent rear pro tv that should work. Some 4:3 ones still pop up on ebay/fb marketplace. Picked up a nice 40" Tosh a couple of years ago for nothing.

I'll definitely try to do a restore thread on it. I'm usually so keen to get stuck in that I forget to take pictures as I progress, but I'll definitely try to do that this time.

I have a couple of rear projection arcade machines on the 'to do list' to repair. I've also got a CRT tester and a RPTV - a 61" version!!

I'm down in Bristol and am always keen to learn and share knowledge and tools, so if I can be of help just let me know!

Excited to see this one get saved. At a glance it looks like that is perhaps not the original screen? do you have a manual to compare with?

Time Crisis Deluxe arrived today. It needs a lot of work!

Getting it off the pallet is going to be hard enough, let alone doing all the rest of it!

Nice, be good to see it up and running again! Last time I saw one of those was probably over 10 years ago at least, in the arcade on the seafront at Penzance. I picked up the complete innards from one of those years ago, the rgb signal plug is a standard scart socket on it so they certainly must've used a standard crt rear projection TV. I think they did that all through the years up until they started using flatscreens as Time Crisis 4 uses a standard Thomson 46" tv!

This used a standard 50" RPTV, this sometimes popup but normally It's the slightly smaller ones that appear.

Note sure if this is the same cabinet or an alternative version?

Thanks, I'm almost certainly going to need some advice on the screen!

I'm pretty sure it's not the original screen although at least it's roughly the correct vintage from 1998. It's 120v too so I'm going to need a transformer.

I don't have the manual for the Deluxe unfortunately. I've got the SD manual and know pretty much all of the wiring for that, so the only real question will be how to convert the RGB from the System 22 to S-Video or composite- assuming of course the TV even works!

I think it is an alternate version of the cab. I initially thought it was just some replacement cab someone had knocked together or re-purposed but the art fits perfectly on the sides and is different from the SD and other Deluxe variant. So I'm thinking it must be from some other licensed manufacturer.

I know there are at least two versions of the SD cab, they're not especially different but the topper has longer sides on some versions.

If you have to replace the TV, make sure you don't get a 100hz one as i'm pretty sure it won't work with the lightgun.

Yeah that's a good point, I'll need to be careful to check the specs before jumping on a replacement. Speaking of light guns, I just popped over to have another look at it, and there's some random PS1 light gun stuffed in the bottom of the pedestal part.

Why am I posting a "this arrived today" for a single fairly common transistor? Well, it seems these things are now up there with top end graphics chips, DE-10 Nanos and Raspberry Pi's when to comes to actually finding places with stock.

So after a month and a half out of action, a new flyback (which was considerably easier to source) and many many emails and phone calls to Farnell and RS, I hopefully have the final piece of the jigsaw to getting my Hanty working again.

I only bought 2 from RS. I still have pending deliveries from several places (including a pack of 10 no doubt knock off ones, from Amazon) that I'm not bothering cancelling, so yeah, not just 1.

Btw, it seems both boards have been restored with remade customized eproms labels.
Yes, that is without doubt! But as I told a friend yesterday, I dont mind a repaired board as long as it works! And both boards work without issues!

A few other additions this week was

Konami Cowboys Of Moo Mesa (came back from reapir, I bought it faulty)

Taito Raimais (back from repair, bought as fully working but had no sound)

Super Qix (came in the mail, fully working)

So now I have loads of games to play :D
