What’s yr best score? Mine is 254k. Was a few years ago now, can’t get anywhere near it.

535k I think that was level 14 or 15 from memory so only need to survive another 6 levels at the same difficulty.

Despite owning about 5 DK machines over the years I’ve never really spent prolonged periods on the game. I reckon a bit of study and proper practise I could get near to or maybe achieve a kill screen.

Played about 6-7 games this week and had a couple of 300k games.

Gonna read that guide and really go for it next week.

Hey mates! Can’t wait for my UK holiday and this event. Just checked out the format and I think it’s really cool. 1hr of running boards will net around 600k. I known this as it was a limit in a previous casual event we had here. It would be much less if you point press as the points will be in board completions in a limited timeframe game. There will be no Killscreens unless someone is able to break the speedrun record of around 1hr 8min.
Get those speed run sneakers on amd get it on like… that ape dude.

You will have 2 hours in the final to get a killscreen or 1million for all us drooling spectators!

Afternoon Chaps!

As someone who's never been any good at DK, I thought I'd have a butchers at the guide further back in this thread, and make some improvements to my gameplay.

I'm already getting back up towards my PB of a whisker over 70K (told you!). So in the immortal words of Christopher Biggins, safari so goodie. But it's also got me suspecting I'm using the wrong ROM. The guide in here suggests that the boards appear in the order: girders, pie factory, rivets, elevators. But my US ROMSET has them in the order: girders, rivets, elevators, pie factory. What's going on?

Hi Rygar
As long as you are using the US set1 ROM “dkong” you are on the right game.
The levels upto L5 are varied
L1 girders, rivets
L2 girders, elevators, rivets
L3 girders, pie factory, elevators, rivets
L4 girders, pie factory, girders, elevators, rivets
L5 onwards:
Girders, pie factory, girders, elevators, girders, rivets

Got my accommodation at Bury sorted out now so I should be there for the event!

On the Saturday before the Kong Off, there's going to be a meetup of Twitch streamers at Arcade Club.
During the day, there's going to be an unofficial Mr Do! competition for a bit of fun.
We have 2 Mr Do! cabinets for the competition, very close to the bar, and there will be a few prizes for top scores on the day.
I'm doing this by myself, so there's no registration site or merch.
Just turn up and play.

Highest score wins, just like the old days. (This might have to change if someone can play for hours and hours)

There's a chance that Dazzer may be coming.
He's the best Mr Do! player in the world right now, he has a 10 Million point game on YT, so we all might be trying for 2nd place while he plays all day with 1 man.

If your interested in having a go, please let me know.
This was done to promote a bit more Mr Do! play, and encourage new players to have a go.
I'm sure that there's going to be some serious drinking done that day, it's going to be a lot of fun.
And a few hangovers watching the main event on the Sunday.

An amazing weekend of arcade goodness!
Hope to see you there.

Game On!

I'm currently streaming Mr Do! on Monday nights 8pm to 11pm on Twitch. If you need any tips for higher scores, pop in and say hello.
Always happy to help peeps get better at Mr Do!

Awesome Pete. Would be very cool if Dazzer rocks up too, fingers crossed. I'll be around on Saturday as you know although possible a little tied up first thing with testing/setting up for the KO but will be popping up to the top floor intermittently. Hoping to have a go. I hope there's no wooden spoon!

Hey Geoff! I agree, format is awesome, my aim is to keep going for the 1 hour without dying, I managed my PB yesterday (390,500) and that took roughly 50 minutes, so I reckon I could hit 450k in the hour, that was playing extremely conservative (skipping the odd top hammer on barrels.)
