Back when I worked and had an ebay business, I used to work 14 hour days some times of the year making hundreds / thousands of ebay sales. Did I have time to sit there and leave shit loads of feedback? I tried but would always fall behind. I spent enough time dealing with moaning buyers who couldn't be bothered to go to the delivery office or next door in some cases. So many scammers too, back when tracking wasn't used and they wanted a free item for £2! There was even someone I blocked and she tried it again using a mate of hers who lived down the road to try the same scam! So many stories of horrible abusive messages. Even if it's just a small percentage of people it grinds you down.
Fuck ebay, I don't sell on there now as it is shit.

Tbh i've never had any problems with buyers or sellers on Ebay, but I see where you're coming from.

I started using Ebay at the start of 1999, so it was still quite manual back then; you would have a back and forth with the buyer/seller (which I still do to this day). So there was never a problem unless the item got lost.

This is for one off items, though. If you were doing it as a business like the guy above me then I can only imagine the ball ache, especially now in an era where people demand instant gratification and next minute delivery.

I've had a few people buy things from me and then send a message after they already paid and say they changed their mind or bought wrong one time this clown says he doesn't want it now so don't post it, however it was already booked for collection the next day before he sends the message so I thought what do I do now, send it and he could break it to return it

good thing was it was before you had to pay for the return too, so I thought no sod him and was doing some plaster boarding at the time, so I boxed up some old broken plasterboard and put a label on and made it look like it was from amazon, he then opened a case not as described saying he got a box of rubble, I replied and said I'm not sure what he's talking about but if he's not happy with the item and returns it I'll happily refund him so he had to return it to get his refund

Parcelforce guy was laughing when I told him what he was delivering back to me :sneaky:
😜 I got stitched sent a ps2 with 32 games ..
They returned the ps2 and kept the games . EBay refunded them full amount and my claim for some reason didn’t ever amount to anything.
Because they made a return item dispute ..

This is why I always end up not selling stuff these days, people drive you nuts.

I think the last one I did was a physical copy of Halo for PC a good few years ago. Having detailed in the listing you needed a patch (and linked to it) in order to make it run because the original activation servers were offline, I ended up in a huge back and forth for a week, being called all sorts, because they couldn't download the file 🤦🏻‍♂️ Ended up putting a copy on disk and mailing it to them, was it worth the £8 I got at the time... nope.

I agree. I sell my saturn games on Ebay. Post the item very well, full communication to buyer, leave feedback and then get nothing back. Seems pointless at times to go the extra mile for customers. Should be automatic good feedback after 28 days or something

I always leave feedback, as a buyer and seller. I've noticed eBay have upped the feedback nagging recently, even for stuff that's not even been delivered yet. Lol.

I guess eBay used to be more personal between 'genuine' private sellers, in the days when you had to send a cheque in the post before the item was dispatched!. I have a theory that some of them don't want the purchase showing in their feedback history for whatever reason and also because people are burnt out from being asked for feedback from the big retailers. I mean I got asked for feedback on my weekly shopping and a parking space the other week!?

On the plus side, the level of packaging seems to have improved recently . People understand that a strong box and packing materials such as bubble wrap or air pockets are necessary for vintage items and posting things in a left over pizza box to save 50p or whatever is not such a smart idea if it gets broken/returned. Of course when eBay mandates a maximum postage value for small items it does not take this cost of 'packing' into account.

Don't "pro" sellers use paid software to auto leave feedback?

Yes I believe that's the case.

The sellers always typically leave feedback, the point neo-geo-mvs makes is that often the buyer no longer returns the favour.

As a pro seller not getting feedback probably hurts your sales ranking and as a private seller it's a bit impolite. If selling something face to face you would typically thank the other person, or to confirm you were happy with the item and the deal is complete.

The idea of auto positive feedback after a period of time is a great idea.

Feel your pain here.

Never been anything but a thankless task selling on eBay, but expectations from buyers are completely unrealistic these days.

Had someone leave me neutral feedback saying I took too long to post something, when it was sent out the next day.

I’m not Amazon, you fanny 😡
