Would love to come to this, but will have to wait for the right time to negotiate with the Boss.

1st May is a Public Holiday where I live...that might be good or bad.

What's the public transport like these days to get to the location from London or Luton Airport?

Haddenham & Thame Parkway looks to be the closest train station and is about 50mins train journey from London Marylebone station. Its an 8min (4.2mile) drive from the station to the village hall.

Thanks for the feedback, Bensonrad. Actually, I could see the station on Google maps, I've used it before years ago.

What I really meant was "What's it like..." as in "Is the transport joined up in anyway?" Are there many trains to Haddenham? Do they get cancelled a lot? Is there a bus to the village? i.e. is it doable risk-free without a car.

I guess it's a question for a local.

/rant/ Everytime I come to the UK, I get turned over one way or another with transport, be it hire car or public transport. Hell, why am I even considering public transport, life is too short and painful as it is. A hire car is the least worst option and I would take my chances on the roads.

Luton would be a shortish drive, London airport (Heathrow to Paddington 15 mins) then tube to Marylebone about 5 mins.

They leave approx every 30 mins from Marylebone and take approx 35 and 49 mins depending on which train you catch. If you catch a Saturday morning train it's likely to be packed with Chinese Tourists heading to Bicester village, although I hear Coronavirus has decimated trade so if that's still lurking the train will be empty !

There is a taxi firm at Haddenham and Thame Parkway but If you need a lift from the Station to the venue I can pick you up.

I've also booked the Aylesbury Travelodge.

This will be my first meet-up and meeting UKvac members – looking forward to it!

Hi guys
I’m really sorry to announce but the meet has been postponed until later in the year.
I’m following government guidelines for the benefit of all our health because of this horrible virus.
I won’t give out the new date until we are through the worst of it and the government says it’s safe to do so.
What ever happens it will still go ahead and it will be some party when it does.
Fingers crossed guys it will be autumn some time.
Obviously if some can’t attend your get a refund but for now it’s just been put back.
Stay safe guys and see you all soon.
Alex

Already looking forward to the rescheduled event!

Alex, have you or anyone involved lost any money? If so, keep my money and I'll just send money again if I'm able to attend the new date...

Fully understandable given the current situation.

Also note that if you have booked a Travelodge on the saver rate they have now changed their policy so when you cancel you will get a voucher code that you can use at a later date this year.

Something to look forward to later in the year :)

I’ve yet to chat with the caretaker but I’m sure he will be fine.
I won’t loose any money Jim as long as I reschedule it will be fine.
Thanks mate

Sorry dude. I only just saw your reply. I guess it's a bit moot at the moment, but I really appreciate the offer. Fingers crossed for the reschedule!d-type2020-03-22 07:18:52

I have mixed feelings about this.

I wasn't going to be able to make it anyway as it's my birthday weekend.

The positive is that it will no longer clash.

The negative is that it's not only wrecked my birthday weekend but every other plan I had for the next few months.

Thanks Covid 19
