Oh and you will need to mark / store that transaction ID as processed in your DB and check for duplicates before the {add points} loop etc.

I'd hardly call that hacking - however the lines have drawn closer together over the decades since the real hacking was done.
I'm sorry you had a mornings work and I'm not sure blaming me publicly for substandard software is the right thing to do either, especially after I found the bug whilst giving you a donation, plus I didn't exactly make the exploit public did I.
OK hands up - Anyone who has lost point and can prove it I shall re instate them by donating money to the forum in your name. Can't say fairer than that Can I?
I have also made another donation for 1/2 day work in classic ASP of £75. Although these rates may be creeping up soon as there are a lot less of us that can competently code Classic ASP now.
Hope that fixes all issues.

Martin, if you find another bug, once you have exploited it _just the once to confirm it is there_ , please PM an Admin to make us aware of it, rather than having to find it out for ourselves after wondering what went on.

Off topic a little...
One thing I don't understand though is the flag system saying how many years people have supported the site above Vacbacker, how can some who has joined say 2012 or 2011 have 3 or more flags (assuming these count for each year a donation has been made), but in theory it should only be showing one or two? Is that related to the donation amount then?

The flag system seems to be either linked to donations or post count in a rather suspect way. I think its was originally a payment membership system so every £xx every 12 months resulted in a "flag".
Maybe - buy who knows.

I know its a strange question (& way ot) but what sort of amount would be classed as a nice donation to make? I have no ideas on costs etc involved with running sites, I'm getting rid of some unwanted stuff (non arcade of course) on the bay of dreams atm so may hopefully have some spare paypal funds kicking about in a few days time

Hey dude,
Honestly it's not a requirement, the money goes into developing the site more and also helping sort out UKVAC goodies at Arcade events.
The entire Site Supporter system is calculated on a weekly unit basis. So You could donate £1 and get automatically put into the system.
I believe we set a weekly unit at 20p or so - making a year about £10. As you donate or top up the system knows who you are, welcomes you back and will tell you your new expiry date too. It's pretty cool

A good donation would be around £5 a month I should think. From the effort involved if everyone paid that it would make things alot easier for the people doing the work.
Thanks for the comments above, great help, its actually a great idea making a weekly contribution, I had wrongly thought people were making a one of donation here & there, I was thinking £50 so I will set it up to take £1.25 a week which as Martin says is fair at a fiver a month.
