A question came in from someone to Andy, although the question was private i thought it was relevant enough to answer publicly.
Firstly, nobody has appproached either of us directly about starting earlier for this event or any of my previous ones, if theres a significant group of people that want to arrive earlier then why not talk to us. The only people i've ever asked not to arrive too early are a few people who I know if i get talking to then nothing will get done and the party will never start - you all know I can talk for England and Europe.
Second, i've tried a few times to start earlier or even done full day events - it doesn't work.
I'm putting on a pre-party, an after party, floor space for people to stay on, and i've said we'll hang on later so its 5-6 hours minimum, plenty of scope and most of the time for most people is spent socialising crowded into my tiny kitchen anyway - the one at the arcade is smaller by the way.
Its not for everybody maybe and it'll still be in the North West which is always going to be too far for some.

I'd be up for a Defender or Gyruss 2play game with anyone (Starwars would be good but you can't play 2 player game on that,shame really

I'm terrible at Defender and poor on Robotron. I can get 180K-ish on Gyruss which is not bad but you'd thrash me on that. I got to the end of wave 5 on Star Wars the other week, which is 94 waves less than you lol! I got 550K on 1942 at NERG though, which I was well pleased with. Jon got 680K on that after me! I'm currently trying to improve on Berzerk.

Just over 24 hours and nearly half full on the guest list.
If this gets overcrowded and people look like they might miss out then i'll talk to Andy about us doing a Sunday afternoon session as well.
Lets see how it goes, if anyone would really like us to do two sessions (that's come Saturday night to the main event and have the option of Sunday as a bonus) then say so.
We don't want to be operating a pick which day on this opening event, maybe at a future one but not this one.

Hi guys, I'm new here, just registered to the forum yesterday and it seems like a great place. Is this event open to all? (Even newbies like me?). I live about 10 mins drive away and have been waiting for this since getting the flyer at play Blackpool (assuming this is the same gig). I need to check holiday dates with my wife, but as long as I'm in the county, is love to come and talk scanlines all night!

Registered myself and a plus one last night. I got 2 emails, which for some reason Google classed as spam, so I clicked the "not spam" on them.
James, one thing I noted, on the final confirmation screen, there is a reference to "clicking the donate button".....Might have been just me, but I couldn't see it.
Anyway, looking forward to the night and seeing everyone. I have also ticked to come to the pre-party, not a definite on that yet, but I would be happy to help out with lifts etc for the folk staying at James' place and nearby.

Any forum member is welcome to the event, check your dates and if you're free then register. Don't be afraid to bring the Mrs, mine will be there as well as other friends of ours.
