Good point rich.
I recon games like hot rod made a lot of money bitd but to big to store or have at home, so they got destroyed.

sheriffs on the other hand didn’t make much money because there were To many other games at that time which were far more popular with kids.
I think in between 1979 and 1981 were crucial years for arcade games and manufacturers, new concepts and game plays were Established, and a new era was born.
I really think those two years were so important and dictated what games we play today.

I think there are lots of rare cabs, some more desirable than others.
Personally I would love to see a stern Rescue extremely rare cab.
Ones I have seen sheriff upright which is my collection 1 of 3 known to exist and monkey magic which is in the uk
I’m hoping someone will find a space launcher upright, only cpo and bezel have been found.

Interesting you mention Space Launcher upright.

As far as I know the only code out there currently is for the cocktail and always screen flips for player 2. Either upright code will also need to be found or the existing code modified.

I'd say that taito canary went cheep.

I saw a red Baron for sale on klov not too far back.

One that I have no clue about, but I'm guessing is very rare, is time gal. Nice looking cabinet, same gameplay as dragons lair. Never saw one in the flesh (or wood?), but I'd fancy that :)

Anyone ever seen one in this neck of the woods?

Same cabinet for ninja hayate?

Lots will say star wars cockpit is rare but there not at all compared to others

I'd say sitdown and big machines from 1970s/80s are rarest, tho you could say TX-1 comes into that and then there are supposed to be 4 of them in one find so you never know who gots what

How many that own machines are actually on the forums, so many of the rare cabs like SCI cockpit, Thunderblade Dlx, Hang-On deluxe, cisco heat deluxe being just a few cabs on ebay over the years and where are they now, since selling ive never see any join and say they own or bought them so far more cabs tucked away than u think at peoples homes
Or lock ups

You can put down Laser Grandprix as rare machine, only one ive seen for sale and got shipped from uk to usa

Still yet to see another Continental Circus Sitdown, not the crappy usa 88 Circuit named ones, original Japan built cab, no pictures on net of any others i can find

A few of the earlier machines I used to own were pretty rare, at least if things like klov/vaps were anything to go buy... sadly a lot of the time rarity doesn't translate into value or desirability.
Atari Basketball - at one time I had a complete upright. A few in the USA, but not very common in the UK

Atari Jet Fighter - IIRC the one I had came over from Germany on a pallet. Never seen another one complete.

I had an Atari UK cab made in Donnington as well, sadly by the time I got it the cab was mostly air due to wood worm. I think it was a Gran Trak 10 or something like that.

Or maybe a "Fun Games Inc: Bi Plane" ? ;-)

I found a Space Launcher upright control panel on a raid and recently went back and found the PCB. So if the upright ROMs don't exist in dumped format I can help.

Good stuff!

I've already modded the code so it will play in an upright for the multikit, but would be interesting to see the original code if you do dump it

I have to say it as the resident horse racing nerd... Derby Owners Club. Completely extinct in arcades across the UK and US. A bunch of private owners in the US but the number is probably >100 if I had to ballpark a guess. It's estimated the 4-seater 'horseshoe' edition had ~300 units made.
There's one 8-seater in Latvia that popped up for sale but status is now unknown. There's one of the 2009 editions in Japan but that was in 2021, could be gone now.
None in the UK (none working, at least) and no cabinets in the UK. I've often thought that if there is one in the UK, its in some random remote pub where it's been there for 15+ years and the owner has no idea how rare it is. Or one sitting derelict and rotting somewhere.

Is this available to play anywhere in the UK? I swear I've played it, but my memory ain't what it used go be.
Nope, it's incredibly rare.
I think it took a long while of watching before a Super Dead Heat PCB came up on Yahoo Auctions Japan.

This just came up on my feed. Never made it to a cab, I don't think, but a very rare game. Apparently this is new footage.
Yeah, I've mentioned it a few times. The last time a PCB was up for auction it went for around eighteen thousand dollars.
It's from the IDYA motion cabinet.
Great intro(s) - especially the second one.
I guess they canned it as it was looking a bit dated by the time it was due to come out.
It was a follow-up to another stupidly rare PCB - Cyber Sterra, for the same machine.
