i always wanted one of those petrol RCs when i was younger but they were pretty expensive, not sure why i dont have one now that my garden is entirely flagged...

I got my eldest a Tamiya “The Frog” about 15 years ago for us to build together. I’d always wanted one back in the day and The Hornet was a bit shit. Ended up building it by myself as he wasn’t interested, upgraded stuff on it and did a custom paint job as he didn’t want the white and pink or green. More time was spent building it than it’s been used 😭

Im guessing that there is probably not a lot of advantages of owning a petrol RC car/bike these days, lots of moving parts to replace and keep working i imagine, always been fascinated by remote control stuff, i've nearly bought a drone a few times but i would use it about 3 times and stick it in a cupboard, much like my Meta Quest 3

i always thought Blockbusters was a rip-off so we used to have a bloke who used to have bootlegs in the boot of his car turn up on a Friday night, he came back the next Friday for the tapes and it was a fraction of the price, plus he wasnt bothered what films you picked, so my mum jut used to pay him and i used to stand there pretending i was deciding and then picking the most violent/nudity containing films i could see

that was the 80's though
We had the same type of guy.it was epic! then we used to re-record em!

Just like with real cars electric is faster & easier to maintain & with so many Chinese brands on the market now not too expensive to get into.
Back in the day it was Tamiya & Kyosho, with the former still offering kits which are fun to build & help you when you have to repair stuff.

Nitro cars still exist but mostly in racing & take a bit more learning something the now generation struggles with.

Mardave i had in the 80's, It was Tamiya Grasshopper or Mardave Apache and as they were made in my home town I picked that, got another one having sold it years back and also the new version of Willy's Wheeler Honda City Turbo and CRV but haven't done anything with them yet

As mentioned before I love snooker. Just got my room ready enough for a table. It's only taken 51 years lol but finally I have my snooker room dream. I plan to enjoy it and maybe do some coaching. Might be able to fit a couple of cabs in the corners too :).

this is amazing, i absolutely love snooker but all my local clubs have shut down now and i dont have anyone to play with, i seem to do great for 2 frames and them my concentration just disappears, think my highest break was about 45 back when i was about 14, more out of luck than skill, i was half decent at potting them, but that is probably the easy bit

Snooker is a haaard game, but nothing like it when you're playing well and in the zone. 45 break at 14 ain't nothing to sniff at!

Same around here with the clubs, there are a couple of men's clubs with like 2 tables but it's pretty desperate around here in Folkestone.

Come have a game if you're ever down my way!

oh folkstone, i was down there a few years ago and we found a great snooker hall by accident in the town centre, me and my son went and had a few hours of pool in there, it was a cracking club with a load of pool and snooker tables

yeah, i used to play for hours and hours back when i was young as i had access to a table a few days a week, that soon dropped off when girls got in the way

shame as i am down folkstone way in July but im not stopping, staying in St Margarets Bay to show one of the kids the white cliffs then off to Europe

That club was either the lanterns or Riley's. Both closed down now unfortunately :(. I've played snooker all my life really, got to quite a good standard, will probably coach from my new room eventually. Only for a hobby mind, don't think I'll earn enough around here to do it as a full time job. It all seems to have migrated to china these days!

i just remember it was up a bunch of stairs, 3 blokes in the bar couldnt understand a word we were saying(yes, they were English) and some woman came out the back and understood us perfectly, it was a cracking place, not too big but had lots of snooker tables in there that looked very well looked after. I think it was members only but they just let us play.

Aaah that sounds like the Lanterns then. Great club. Real shame it closed. I grew up playing there. Misspent youth! I remember going up there in the 80s and they had 2 floors with 15 snooker tables. Even mid-week you had to book else you wouldn't get a table.

I do wonder how they can hold all that stock. Went bath one other week had massive selection of dvds from just 1pound. I was looking for some 4k stuff to try on my tv, to see how compared to streaming. I don't have room for a 4k player so will have to use xbox. There was nothing that I fancied though !!
