I watched Robocop (the original) last week on tv, so decided to try play through the game, I had only ever played a couple credits in the past. ..I gave up about level 5 or 6.. it was just too tedious.. I can't imagine anyone paying to play it through bitd, it's a terrible credit muncher and repetitive gameplay.

after watching an expert play this at a meet and getting some tips, i was able to 1cc this a few years ago. i'm guessing you find the bit where you're travelling up in the lifts tedious? it's not that long and yes, you do have to take your time a bit, but the satisfaction in the end if worth it.

i've started playing some jail break again last night. wanna complete it after all these years.

Robocop was the most popular game in King Street arcade in Wigan back in the day (edited to say - when it was initially released). The graphics, sound effects and theme made this stand out from almost every other game there was. They had the volume cranked up on it that high we nick-named the game 500 decibels. People would crowd round to watch. Unless you were there it was hard to appreciate that the film rating system meant something and getting hold of Robocop from a video shop for this movie was some task. Enter the cool club if you did and the game just expanded on that.

It was absolutely awesome at the time - I could 1 credit the game back in the day. We also knew of a score hack on the junk yard stage where the score would just reel up if you shot something at a certain spot, wish I still remembered where that was now.

This point reel up is known because it's recorded in Twin Galaxies

Can still 1 credit the game now.jonhughes2018-08-09 14:21:50

I really like Robocop - one of those well paced games you can do on 1 credit (with a lot of effort). Each to their own

I never seem to play any games these days, but if I did get the chance to play something in my hoard, I think it'd be Moonwalker as hardly touched it since I got it working.

Loved Robocop back in the day, the machine I played it on had a really bassy speaker, and when you fired, it sounded ace. It was also one of the first PCBs I managed to get from an old Brent Leisure unit near to where my Brother worked.

Playing Bubble Bobble atm, one of my fav PCBs, goes great until I reach the infamous Level 42 grr!

I’ve just put Volfied back in a cab. Trying to remember the quick level tactics and am still determined to max out the score and finish all 16 levels.

This..!

As I was trudging playing through it, I remember thinking to myself how much of a coin eater it was and there could be no way anyone could 1cc this. The boss battles for example took me a countless amount of credits.. then, I was just battering through it without trying to involve any skill (it may as well be on freeplay after all, you know the type of blast through I speak of). Kudos to anyone who can 1cc that ffs.. im out.

Top movie, still works today.

This week it is “Viewpoint” on Neo-Geo MVS. This is one mean shoot ‘em up from 1992 by Sammy. Great game and I would advise all to play it. The graphics were ground breaking for 1992 and the sound track is still amazing even today!

cheers

Robocop is one of the easier 1CC games - there are patterns and positions to be in to get through it fairly simply. I've been playing it again recently and you can clear the whole game in about 15 - 20 minutes if you don't stop to to the scoring tricks. You were probably right at the end when you quit - it only has 7 stages. It's like a lot of arcade games - seems ridiculously hard but once you know the patterns, really simple.

I'm playing "Last Resort" on the Neo-Geo MVS (from 1992).

A stunning game and the sound track is amazing too. Yes it is like R-Type but I believe that some of the former Irem developers also worked on this game.

Back into my Neo-Geo now...

Hi All,

This week I'm playing an old favourite which came out a year after Blazing Star (by the same team) and is nearly as good too. Took me a while to find it on MVS though. I'm playing it on a Japanese Neo-Geo AES home console (low serial number) with an MVS converter and RGB scart lead. Full screen of course at 60hz !!!

Great game and the soundtrack is really good too and the game has elements of "Choplifter" in it too...
