Well yes that's the plan but it's currently wiping me out!! I might need to at this rate! Fun though, and at least there's a decent resto thread on a pin happening

+1 for clear coating.

You've come this far, you may as well protect it for its lifetime. After all playfield condition is the most important thing for a pinball.

I'm a car man (accident repair). Looks like its already clearcoated? BTW £200 for clear coat is pretty heavy. Even using an HS clear it would use no more than 1/2ltr and should cost no more than £125 even with a low bake oven to finish the job and labour included.

Unless he will be buffing and flatting out to hide and protect the decal edges? in that case then yeah £200 is about right.

Avoid a 70 degree oven if it is being baked as this may upset the decal, go for about a 55 degree but bake a little longer.

It's not usually baked for playfield restos AFAIK?

I understood the traditional pin way is essentially a 3 coat treatment with extremely light sanding in-between?

There are a few guides on the UKpin lists IIRC.

First time I've ever rated a thread. Have 5 from me!

I'd like to thank my Mum, my Dad and my little brother, you were always there for me. Oh and Bill that bloke that lives 2 doors down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all my fans old and new, it'll go centre spot on my mantle piece.

Update!

Well i've been considering the chrome coin door as you know as I think it looks pretty ace, and the black door I didn't think went to well with the Indy art work.

But I have been baulking at the price of those chrome coin doors, they are $449 plus shipping! add to that the fact they are only 2 coin slot versions AND they are only chromed on one side!... I can't justify it.. I thought this was unfair to my pin as the serial sticker explicitly states she is a 3 slot! She needs to be a 3 slot dammit!!

Gah. What to do.

Well Manny at WoodTECH came up trumps with a really NICE and complete 3 slot door. My one is in absolutely horrible condition with holes through the actual door due to hole punched plates that have been put on.

Most of the internals of the door are also missing and the harness has been cut. So I knew I needed to get another door, as that would be cheaper than sourcing the parts and fixing the dents and holes.

Anyhow he sent me pix yesterday of this:

Woohoo!!

So my thinking is:

1. Buy this door! It's lovely and complete!

2. Chrome it!

Anyhow Manny then came back and showed me this pic...

This is a 3 slot coin door he restored and chromed and mirrorpolished...

HOLY sh*t I NEED THAT DONE!

So Manny was the solution, the above coin door is now having the above done to it! Result!

3 Slot chromed goodness here we come

Forgot to say, another update coming soon as a whole load of playfield parts have just come from Best of Pinball
smiley20.gif

And... My Pinball Heaven order should be in also. This order has the leg protectors so I should be able to get here up on her legs and put the back box on in the next few days and start fitting a few parts like the new lockdown bar assembly and new NOS gun handle I haven't mentioned yet ..

The coin door looks nice in black but i think i'd have to chrome it.....been toying with the idea of chroming my MC coin door as it's an Irish cab with a silver coin door anyhow.

May even chrome my house front door also!
