Got my PS4 on Friday and I really like it. Nice solid little machine (way bigger than I was expecting which means the XB1 must be gigantic according to comparison photos), and aside from some PSN issues which lasted until Sunday, everything has 'just worked'.

Highlights:
Graphics are really amazing - I've been playing Assassins Creed IV, they 1080P patched it, and wow it looks nice.
Share button streaming to Twitch was dead easy and seems to be reasonable quality-wise. They need to get the upload updated to support Youtube though because Facebook sucks. I refuse to get a FB account.
Being able to play before it's finished installing is nice.
The UI is fantastic - no sh*t all over the place.
It's quiet - not sure why there were lots of dismayed posts about both machines, it's certainly quieter than a 360 and I thought those were fine.

I see from comparisons finally being posted, the graphics advantage is making itself very obvious already.

Interesting article. I love the interface, it works great on a TV and the voice commands rule but understand it's got a long way to go - just like the 360's.

The one thing I agree with wholeheartedly from that article is the online nature of viewing the achievements app - and the fact you have to go into the app to view them - the 360 experience here was better.

I wish they had stayed with the original 4 blades, it worked fine, but nooooo MS wanted to break it all and stick adverts everywhere!

PS3 XMB wasn't the greatest thing ever, but it was clean & easy to use, no intrusions and no faffing around no media bollox rammed in your face to play games ON A GAMES CONSOLE!

And it still is! PS3 still exists

It's odd really. When WP7 came out with the tiled interface I absolutely hated and pretty vocally said so, while also stating pretty vocally that it would make a superb interface for Windows and I hope the go that way.

Ironically, now that we've lived with the UI on Windows for a year (and I'm absolutely fine with a lack of start button, it doesn't phase me one bit), and we've seen it on Xbox, and I had it on my surface. You know what? I'm reversed. I'm growing to hate the UI on large screen devices and actually love my Windows phone. I just wish they'd make a new Lumia 800. All the others are soooo big.

If you want a WP8 that is the size of a Lumia 800 get a 500 or 600 series.
