I know where to get hold of one of those ...

but there's plenty of things at that museum that I would love to play with - need to dig out my old commodore disk (from BITD - it has all my weird programs on) to see if it still reads / copies, would love to get some of that transferred across to use in emulators / replay!

Thanks everyone who came, Nes4Life for organizing it and Jason for hosting the event,
I had a brilliant weekend meeting new people and learned a lot about pcb's and how to use specialist equipment, was really informative and a great atmosphere.

Oh, THATs what you were holding and grinning about!

Sadly by the time I realised I'd not looked around at any of the computers there they were all switched off and everyone was waiting for me to finish packing up so they could go home. I had a quick nose at them all switched off though. Not quite the same but never mind. Just reminded me that although I've seen Falcons before, don't think I've seen one running?

I would love to spend a few days rigging stuff up and playing with old computers in that place. Maybe will have to offer to take the wife on holiday to Cambridge. I can guarantee she wouldn't see that coming

Guddler finds the culprit! Either the chip is faulty or one of the pins is being pulled to ground by some dodgy soldering on the back.

Top three scores from the last Arc-aid meeting! Put myself in as PAB (should have been PRB) but now i tend to use NES. I think Vic put in the VAC last time.

I spy with my little eye a Diablo 630 printer.

...the monitor swap in question wouldn't be to replace a nice Hantarex MTC-900E in a nice Zaccaria MVGS cabinet with an LCD would it?
Paul.

Spent an hour or so on the Tempest PCB from the museum this evening and I'm happy to report that it's now working. There was a bad 74S02 in the state machine control circuit.

Excuse the badly aligned picture on my screen - I don't like to mess with the adjustments on the board as it's probably set up nicely for the cab it's come out of...

Will try and find time to take a look at the centipede board next week. I'd like them both back before Xmas but I've been struggling for time a bit as I've been working really late most nights.

The Tempest was good actually because I'd not used my Fluke on one before and there are lot of ROMs on that so I took the opportunity the week I got back from the meet to re-write my test routine in a more concise way. Consequently thats got me back into the Fluke side of things a bit which means I've got something out of it too. I was a little worried when I arrive at the conclusion that the state machine had a problem but found it quick enough. For what it's worth, the schematics are laid out a lot better for Tempest than they are for Asteroids and BattleZone.

Added bonus, my own spare Tempest boards are now out and on the bench too

I've not touched it yet, but didn't we plug it in to the mamma rig at the event and get nothing out of it? I thought that was why I brought it back with me...
