If they post anything it will be an excuse about the repair quote being a mistake or something along those lines

I guess they thought the original poster was not a member on here and would just pay up for this reworked cab and let them keep his old cab to make money from
Or send his mvs board back and keep his cab to make money off
Sticking on some sh*tty artwork and old dell workstation and lcd in it then trying to sell it for £1000

And its not just a personal gripe from me because they ripped me off check my rep with the people i have delt with on here set up cabs at shows with
sold restored cabs to
Or gone out of my way to help out with my own time and money
I am just a normal customer like the original poster
Do you see them helping the community out ?
See them at any shows ?

Sorry if this is a bit of a rant but the greed is killing something That is a big part of my life

As i have said before stay well away from retro leisure
They are just strippers and flippers breaking a cab and all of the expensive parts selling them off and then converting the empty shell into a mame cab to sell on they are only interested in taking your money
No real repair skills at all
I bet they are both still signing on

!!!!! buyer beware !!!!!

It's not just greed, it's a scam in this case. The guy is offering a service he cannot follow up on, as he obviously can't fix monitors. He most likely never had any intention in fixing it and is now holding the machine for ransom.

Exactly, he knows most people aren't going to courier a cab to them for £100 then pay another £100 to get it couriered back with no repairs after being told it's worthless by so called experts.

As said above, it's a scam to fleece people who don't know much about arcade machines which is probably a very high percentage of people that buy them these days.
They tell someone that doesn't know much about arcade machines that their machine can't be fixed then buy it cheap off them and sell them one of their own overpriced ones. They then pimp up the new "unfixable machine" and sell to the next person who needs a machine fixed after telling them that theirs is no good and repeat for next person. One of many scams these people pull.
Most of these places are exactly the same from what I've heard over the years.

Again thanks to all the replies and input

I more than happy to pay a fair price for a repair to anyone.
At present I know little to nothing about the workings of an arcade cab so just like a car when something went wrong a sent it off for repair.

I’m devastated to read that I might be getting taken advantage of but unfortunately these things happen and yes a £100 return courier bill had made me question whether to bother getting it back at all.

If they quote me a fair price I am happy to let them do the work as I’ve already sent it away but if not I will arrange for one the couriers to collect it and deliver it back me.

As I mentioned previously I’ve have managed to pick up a working lordsvale cab from the guys are the Arcade club and Lewis has been awesome sending me regular videos and pics of them servicing it so shout out to him and them.

This is just like "We Buy Any Car", they offer a good price on the phone and arrange a visit to firm up the price, then they find any excuse to drop the price by at least %30 once they are there. Think they rely on people being in a rush and caving in.

Exactly praying on uneducated customers to just hand over cash because they are "the experts"
Hopefully carma is something real

upload a few pictures of the cab(inside and out)

As said the monitor costing £600 to repair is for the birds to be honest.

I have a BAS cab myself and there is not much to them parts wise tbh

I collect fruit machines more than videos but the fast buck merchants have infested that side of arcade collecting scene for about 10 years now with sh*t overpriced machines, crap repair jobs and eBay shilling etc.

If you have a working lordsvale at the moment thats something you can play in the meantime. I'd get your BAS cab back to you ASAP and take this as an opportunity to try to fix up yourself as a learning experience.

Plenty of people on here to help you on your journey and we all had to start somewhere. Before you know it you'll be swapping PSUs , discharging monitors, removing chassis', rewiring buttons and new looms along with the best of them.

It will serve you well in the long term, especially if the lordsvale has a blip. Consider this experience as a long term cost saving experience!

Get your JAMMA cabinet back, use the courier on here it's £85/95. Do not pay what they are asking - total rip off.

If the monitor is faulty send the chassis to gunblade on here who offers a monitor repair service.

Use this forum as the primary resource for diagnosis - any arcade machine repairs companies are normally crap and don't know what they are talking about.

Without seeing photos you can probably sell your BAS JAMMA cab for £150 - so getting it shipped back will make you £50.

This has been a steep learning curve for you.

Thanks again for all the replies

Certainly a costly leaning curve but hey ho I should have been more patient and not jumped in head first.

Will probably collect the cab this week myself with a mate as not heard back from Martin

If you're trying to get through to Martin via forum messaging, he doesn't log on very often at all.

Your best bet is to give him a call - he'll very often pick up immediately (unless he's carrying something), and he's really friendly, approachable bloke.

I never like sharing numbers online ... but here's his business' Facebook page with his contact details on it (so I might as well have shared his number...)

https://www.facebook.com/RetroLogistics/

Hope you get this all sorted relatively painlessly.
