I have loads of DVD's that my partner will be taking to the boot fair when the weather is better, as I am upgrading to blu-ray/uhd so I trying to get rid of the dvd's when I upgrade, mainly upgrading my anime at the moment then tv series.
That's what i've been doing but decided to keep DVD's and put disc in Bluray cases like ones you get with both formats, Some DVD's are fetching reasonable money now which is mad, but look at VHS tapes, soon as there are less about people want em again and pay more money, I'm keeping all the covers and just box them up, can store 1000's in a smallish box. All depends what films they are, Halloween, Friday 13th good to sell, its worth looking up a few price wise or keep them like i've done, no space taken up in same Bluray case

Inspired by some of the above I put some books on Music Magpie today. Only £15 for about 30 books, but it will clear some.

Loads of books I have don’t have barcodes, they are going to be more troublesome to shift.
Be careful with the small print with them places .i used one of them .if books aren’t A1 condition, they dispose of them for you ,and deduct a chunk of your cash

I counted the amount of DVDs we have and come to over 3000. Yup, you read it right. No idea how it came to that.
We bought films, after watching them, they vanished to the attic, never to see the light of day again, and kept doing this. After many years when looking for one, I decided to sort them out. Only then did we realise just how many we had.
Have a fair few VHS films as well, and 2 Betamax. Star Wars a new Hope, and Dirty Harry.

I have loads of Criterion region 1 DVD’s which oddly seem to go up in value, I should get these sold as I buy everything now on iTunes.

It’s easy to collect and lose in the loft, I have boxes of cd’s up there too.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with over 3000 DVDs ! The majority of them are worthless too

I'm on 2,200+ but have boxes of blurays I bought in job lots, many I need to watch really before deciding to resell so probably about same total

Can't even get decent job lots of blurays from ebay now, all same shite ones in job lots and prices seem to have gone up

I've got a ton of dvds in the loft in multiple automatic library machines (can't remember what they were called), basically you catalogue the disc in the PC and then when you want to watch one you select it and the machine delivers your chosen disc. Sound great until you no longer have the PC with the library on it and have no clue what's in the disc machines. I suspect they'll go to the skip with me still not knowing what's in there:D

I have inherited my grandparents house
It is an archive of their & my family’s
Lives .. it aint easy ..
My missus is just like trying to throw everything .
I’m sentimentally attached to anything no matter how small . I have memories of all of it.
I have been caring for them for 10 years! Then there is moving my stuff here! Then there is getting my cabs from my mums house!

So it’s a good excuse to build a new arcade room 👍🫡

I will consolidate my collection.
Get rid of some cabs and pcbs as I can get round to it.

Staved myself in my good hand with a stanly knife last
Night and can’t use my thumb ..
Just managed to wrap a chassi to post tonight .

Missus down stairs now packing up 1000,s of beads & knecklaces from my Nans hobby. 100, books , art materials I will keep for me & my kids.

Hoarding / collecting / hobby’s is it seems in our blood

I know how you feel about 'hoarding/collecting/hobbies its in our blood', when my father passed my brother and I had to clear the house to sell it (i didn't want to sell but my brother did, you know how it goes), an just like you 'I’m sentimentally attached to anything no matter how small . I have memories of all of it and your right it was also an archive of my family's life for me. So, likely my partner was very understanding and said it was okay to bring most of it back to ours and store most of it in the loft, so my kids can enjoy it in the future.

I hope your hand and thumb gets better soon and you get to build a great new arcade room:)

I could quite cheerfully chuck everything I or any member of my family owns in a skip and start again :D . Clutter irritates the fuck out of me. And after falling through the loft hatch the other week whist putting christmas decorations away, I shall be avoiding that too

Well it happened a couple of weeks ago so only another 2 before I get to see a doctor (if they're not on strike :D)
Glad your not badly hurt.
Yesterday evening
I left a Stanley knife on top step of a double ladder -

Forgot it was up there!
Went to put ladder away
Can’t believe my luck!
It came down and stuck in base of my thumb / hand like an arrow .
Sure it hit the bone.

Hence now I need even more time to tidy up! Don’t normally hurt my good hand .

That sounds seriously painful ,but could have been a lot worse I suppose

I put me foot through ceiling the day we were moving house, my dad wasn't impressed is understatement  specially cos I hadn't sorted the stuff ready for the move

Was in my loft once, wasp was flying round, tried to smack it with something, hit the strip light, that fell out so i was in the dark, tube fell straight through the loft hatch, down the stairs and when I got down, it hadn't even broke  so put it back up and carried on

All good now with stairs and loft done out
