I didn't go at all last year due to various commitments. Hats off to Pete and Gradius for handling all the AO stuff the past couple of years.
Always treated it as a working holiday. Hotel was paid for at the first Replay in Blackpool, but the rest of my trips came out of my own pocket. No big deal, and no negative feelings about that nor the effort put in - only thing I never liked was the commercialism (though I accept that it's a requirement for such an event).
Not sure if I'm going this year or not, but it'd be without cabs again. I'd *love* to have a shed full of (gamer condition) candies and a van I could take to events but I don't - the messing around with cabs and setup appeals more to me than the social aspect, I prefer smaller meets for the latter.
Thanks Matt its good to see somebody cared although for the work that went in it would of been nice to see our stand feature in more video's online & not just 1 as below:
Gradius also won't be doing any cabs this year as he has had enough of lugging his cabs though narrow door ways in his house not sure if Guy will lend his 2 Astro's as it took about 5 months to get 1 of his cabs back one year & since then I moved them for him.
So 1 Versus from me, 2x Astro City from Guy & a Edget 2 & a Blast from Gradius:
Years gone by I have enjoyed driving about as we had a extra days to get them there last year I had to do all the driving & moving cabs in one day.
St Albans>Crawley 75miles. Crawley>Birmingham 140miles. Birmingham>Manchester 120miles & then back in the Monday
on the face of it it doesn't sound so bad its the Versus taking apart & building that kills it (3-4 hours just for 1 door way) and the other Candy's also need to come apart which makes them not so logistic friendly aside from the collectors aspect of keeping them mint.
Still we had some great times no regrets
going to miss it all the same
Ideally I would like a solution for my cab to come to The South Coast Slam & Revival.
