Personally I would say to you to leave, friends or not over there (and mostly here anyway) the only way some will learn is when there is no one left to hear them whine!

My candy due to poor condition in places makes it ideal to transport just I would need it in a garage and I don't have 1.

I believe I hold the record for the dirtiest cab at a show :) egret2 replay 2012. As I said to the candy boys " it's in arcade condition "
I think we described it as "JB Mint" at one point

I appreciate your support guys! People on UKVAC have been fantastic and welcoming to me

FYI, for anyone who wants to see if they can spot the filthy cabs at Play Expo 2012, here is my video in 1080p HD with closeups of most of the machines.

James, ColinD and myself were responsible for providing and maintaining something like around three-quarters of all the cabs in the classic videogame section in 2012.

James and Colin are clearly stronger people that me as I took it quite badly having my machines deliberately slagged off by stooges.

We're the machines factory NOS perfect? No of course not, but were any so bad that they could not possibly be seen at a public event?

I didn't go at all last year due to various commitments. Hats off to Pete and Gradius for handling all the AO stuff the past couple of years.

Always treated it as a working holiday. Hotel was paid for at the first Replay in Blackpool, but the rest of my trips came out of my own pocket. No big deal, and no negative feelings about that nor the effort put in - only thing I never liked was the commercialism (though I accept that it's a requirement for such an event).

Not sure if I'm going this year or not, but it'd be without cabs again. I'd *love* to have a shed full of (gamer condition) candies and a van I could take to events but I don't - the messing around with cabs and setup appeals more to me than the social aspect, I prefer smaller meets for the latter.

Thanks Matt its good to see somebody cared although for the work that went in it would of been nice to see our stand feature in more video's online & not just 1 as below:

Gradius also won't be doing any cabs this year as he has had enough of lugging his cabs though narrow door ways in his house not sure if Guy will lend his 2 Astro's as it took about 5 months to get 1 of his cabs back one year & since then I moved them for him.

So 1 Versus from me, 2x Astro City from Guy & a Edget 2 & a Blast from Gradius:

Cab.jpg

Years gone by I have enjoyed driving about as we had a extra days to get them there last year I had to do all the driving & moving cabs in one day.

St Albans>Crawley 75miles. Crawley>Birmingham 140miles. Birmingham>Manchester 120miles & then back in the Monday

on the face of it it doesn't sound so bad its the Versus taking apart & building that kills it (3-4 hours just for 1 door way) and the other Candy's also need to come apart which makes them not so logistic friendly aside from the collectors aspect of keeping them mint.

Still we had some great times no regrets
smiley32.gif
going to miss it all the same

Ideally I would like a solution for my cab to come to The South Coast Slam & Revival.

sadly i totaly agree with you pete. the candy section has dropped steadily year after year
smiley19.gif
and the same for the classics from personal collections, but it's more noticeable. we had more at " the scottish open " than they had in 2012
smiley36.gif
sadly i see the candy section becoming a thing of the past
smiley19.gif

but shows do need support, without us they don't have shows. at the moment i'm not giving out cabs, purely because i need to dismantle them
smiley6.gif
but i would still do my damndesed to try and help any organisers i could to ensure a show was viable

There's plenty of hotels a couple of miles out that don't cost the earth.

I agree with Phil. Plenty of cheap hotels to stay in around the area. I just looked at some around 5-10 miles away and they are £50-60 a night. No problems with parking/transport at the Trafford Centre
