There's plenty of hotels a couple of miles out that don't cost the earth.

I agree with Phil. Plenty of cheap hotels to stay in around the area. I just looked at some around 5-10 miles away and they are £50-60 a night. No problems with parking/transport at the Trafford Centre

You're right there !

Big Phil, Fat Apollo and myself are staying at a hotel about 4-5 miles away from the event and they're cheaper than that

me and my mates are going full-on cosplay this year for a bit of fun. I'm mates with a medieval armourer and fight choreographer so should be able to get something decent put together for a skyrim or darksouls costume :)

The build up is coming across much more down beat this year with than in previous years this is the case across all forums.

Not seen much from the organisers either.

I've noticed the same for EGX this year, only found out on twitter from a couple of guys arranging to meet up.

I guess now there are more shows its just getting normal.

The ten pence arcade podcast said RGP/Andy are taking 150 cabs alone, so should be fairly decent.

But yeah its been low key in general

There have been some adverts on local radio stations in Manchester though

How have I only just heard about this? I'm not far from manchester so thinking about driving up on Sunday if they have a decent collection of cabs, for anyone who's been before is it decent? What sort of cabs are normally there? I'd love a go on an original DK. Any chance of that? Cheers

An original DK?! You'll have to come and see!

3 huge truckloads of cabs were delivered yesterday, classics galore.

That's even before you've played hundreds of pinball machines, retro consoles, etc.

Yes, it's a great event, well worth the short trip over from Sheffield.

You'll get to meet some lovely VACers, too!

Nice one! Sounds promising! Had a look on YouTube at the Blackpool arcade walk. Looked sweet. I will be coming Sunday!!

How busy is it expected to be? Been to the eurogamer in London a few times, too busy to enjoy (and the arcade section is none existent!) what would be the best time to get there? Only really interested in the arcade.

Others might be able to advise you better, but from experience, the queue outside early on does get a bit 'big' to say the least. If you can get a ticket beforehand, I'm sure that'll help.

The arcade is extremely popular with virtually everyone, in fact even yesterday while starting the setup, other exhibitors were coming over and taking photos and asking questions about the machines (my favourite being "Are these the real deal, or are they MAME?").

It will be BUSY, but 'good busy'! Make sure you introduce yourself to fellow VACers!
