I'd like to get a super hang on to put with my Outrun and Afterburner in the house. Potentially buy a Sega rally 2 twin to go with the Daytona in the garage. Then I'm officially out of room! And money.

Just gonna keep an eye out for a bargain or two
Sold a good bit of stuff of over last year and half ,
It’s good to move stuff on ,but my circumstances have changed for the better so may buy some more cabs again
Or maybe buy pinballs as they seem easier to get at the min
For once I’ve a bit of room and money to get stuff and everything I have is fully working
Maybe even trade a few cabs ,I like a change really often

Still searching for that elusive Outrun Deluxe! But in 2020 I'll be busy on the projects I've collected and not finished.
Other than that just a handful of PCB's I'm after, that have always proved to be out of my price range ... Rolling Thunder, PacMania, etc..

I've made some space so that I can set up a bench for soldering and fixing PCB's, it's a hobby I want to pursue, I also want to Learn more Japanese too so I plan to find a private tutor.

My games room is pretty much how I want it, 3 CRT cabs (2X NAC and 1x NNC) and a Vewlix LCD to cover everything I want to play.

in the shed I have a multi driver that's not had any love this year!

so hopefully 2020 will be it's time to shine!!

I defiantly cannot buy any more cabs next year, I already have too many for now.

I have lots to work on though.

My projects this year will be:

Lethal Enforcers II - Finish the CPO / Front panel and re-assemble

Moonwalker - New CPO and re-cap monitor (a few other bits to tidy up)

Mad Dog II - Install a new monitor

Big Red - Install new coin door and EL panels

I am fitting smart sockets in my games room as part of a rewire , Seems extension plugged into extension leads isnt ideal now I have 18 cabs in there.

Have set up a few to test and I love it, I have a android tablet to put on the wall with all the cabs listed by name so i can turn on one or all of them in the app or I can just ask Alexa "Switch on star Wars" and off we go!

@Neil

Would be nice to get them finished and working, need more playing machines than fixing for a change in new year

Still need to do something with my Dino Cabs, need to clear the back bedroom though, it's full of boxes and crap, would like to get the Dino cabs in there as well as one of my Technics systems so I can properly listen to some music, that room needs finishing with plasterboarding and plastering from when loft stairs were put in

@John

I here you there John

Bench-01.jpg

That's how mine's ended up so I can't work on anything

These Stanley Vice are brilliant, I saw them in Wilko, some were £24 and others £16 so bought one, think sellers on ebay doing them for £15 clamps on to desk, can move it all directions as it's on ball, very handy on work bench for holding connectors, pins etc while soldering and lots of other stuff, comes with soft jaw covers too, could be a good little present from the other half

Bench-02.jpg

If you buy Soldering gear, I wouldn't get anything else than Metcal Oki, 2nd hand off ebay I got and very happy with it, heat up in less than 10 seconds, not wasting electric is left on, being able to change tips in a few seconds is just great, much better to use also with the design

Yeah were bit in the same boat there aren't we, exactly what I need to do, pointless having all this lot and can't enjoy them

@Chopper

Little Space, That certainly doesn't help in this hobby. If I was in that position I'd have 2 or 3 cabs, Vertical, Horizontal Jamma cabs with swappable panels or controls and Driving cab with mame I think so I could play most games at least

@Qjuk

Was going to say you could get one of the Cabaret Repro cabs done but that's not really option for Vector games, there are options but that's not cheap either

I've got a bit more to do on my Dino cabs but will be worth the effort, nice to squeeze in a few more options for different systems in these diddy cabs

@Zed

Hope that Campervan is going to have some sort of arcade game setup in it. was thinking about putting in a Pie setup in my car, already has Dvd and TV, only issue is now they don't leave us alone at work when not busy, want us doing other peoples jobs so probably never get used

@Aztecca

There are always some cheap jamma cabs come along at some point, you don't need to know to much to have one of them and plenty people here to help

@Alpha1

That would be great to see, hope it's something really cool. look forward to that as we don't see enough of your collection or resto job's

Reminds me of the Technics speakers I bought, got the RX70 when I did the Scotland trip for Hang-On Copy and Crossbow, wanted the RX50 but I don't like paying £4-600 like most want and won some for about £160 cabinets are real mess, also from damp with corners expanding which is going to be a job to sort, mainly trying to recover them in the wood look finish as it curves around the front corners.

a month or so after buying them, on ebay was a pair of the empty cabinets for auction, just one issue, I forgot to bid
smiley18.gif
and as usual being miles over eastside of country and collection only they only sold for a few quid

Wish I could find an Empty or Converted Crossbow Shell

@Rich

Great Choice in Turbo Outrun and Outrun PCB, bet you can't wait, good start for the new year that
smiley1.gif
that's what we like to hear

@Supersprint

Yeah tell me about it mate, I'll get this lot sorted soon.... Oh you mean yourself I thought you meant me till I realised it's nearly 19 years
smiley36.gif

Same boat for me, have a few working cabs but most are either covered in stuff or can't get too, that's got to change in 2020, need to be able to get to all machines so I can work on more of them

@Stryker

I spend pretty much zero time playing any games, always busy working on things, need more play time, be happy when a few things out my way so I can, would be great to get Paperboy in my Champ Sprint cab, had it working years ago but need to sort out adaptor for the controls so still never played it on original cab yet

Need to get to some meets also, working weekends don't help but do get some off

We're looking to move down south somewhere near Bicester and a house with a minimum of a double garage and/or space for a large workshop is a non negotiable. Planning on fully insulating/heating it and getting a CNC router and a CNC laser amongst some other toys. I've got access to some 5 axis milling machines at work so between them I should be able to churn out some pretty cool stuff.

Buckingham is a very nice place to live! Or Brackley. They're both very close to Bicester.

@JonTron

That's the important bit, space for working machines and to fix them, wish I'd had a driveway big enough for proper Garage at least, hope that all works out
smiley20.gif

@mysticmonk

Always good to hear More Space in this hobby
smiley1.gif
you never know your luck on finding stuff you need, I've done quite well over the years

@R-Type

I've only played SCI once, lucky enough it was in the Sitdown cab when at the Gaming Expo in Holland, I was close to bidding on the only once I've seen in UK but I never played it bitd, just Chase HQ so I held out for the original of them. I've got SCI boards so I can hopefully get to play it more in my cab just need to sort out buttons for shooting

Need to get to AC somepoint, The Sega Sims are enough for me to go
smiley1.gif

@FrancoB

That's not good being away working, hope that changes for the better. I'm in Bicester some times at weekends with many other places, shame I don't get much time between jobs anymore

Would love more and better tools for bending, cutting etc as I like doing everything myself

@Phill

No good when you can't buy more cabs, though saving money for place with bigger garage is worth aiming for, keeps you with something to work too, saying that I seem to have lost drive to do that in last few years, at nearly 50 I don't want to start getting borrowing money and having to work more or worry if jobs gone, nearly finished this year when we lost half the workforce so I'll make good with where I am now. If I'd been younger I would of probably bought the place a few houses up from me, massive garden to have every building you could dream of if you had the money to have it all built, could of been triple or quad width garage if money was there

@J69

get looking for Super Hang-On, worth a trip to Europe even to get one, my LE one came from Germany and Thunderblade from Holland, only way to get things, of course after I did another LE one was found in UK and then 2 Thunderblade machines also came up so sometimes pays to wait, well I say pays, you would probably pay more if in UK now as many won't make effort to pickup from other countries

@bodypop

I can't part with my machines but it's good were all different, good to hear things change for the better these days, hope you get some cool stuff

@Nilyash

Shame you didn't get that Cockpit one, was a real shame that left the country. amazes me that many would make space if it had been a Star Wars Cockpit cab for £600 but Firefox that's extremely rare cab and no one will make space, could of been a nice Multi Cab at least with PC already fitted and running it on emulator, could of played loads more games in it too

@Flinnster

What happened to that one you were in talks about then? shame that didn't happen, it's shame when you finally have space or money to get the things you want you can't find them or prices too high

Rolling thunder is great game, thought that would be reasonably easy to get still, not sure what prices are these days though

Think we all need to up our game over next year with getting some of this stuff done. I Certainly do

Could do with an encouragement thread to try and boost us to finish projects off and get more games working with more time playing them too

Im planning on having a clearout of all the arcade tat taking up space in my loft
workshop and conservatory that im not using

Im not restoring anymore cabs
(Unless a cheap roadblasters comes up)
i dont have the time nowadays
And after restoring a few cabs from the 80,s 90,s a pinball and a few drivers
learning all i could along the way
I find its pretty much just the same process over and over
the price of decent dedicated project cabs is getting silly now
As much as i like the idea of saving cabs

And i have mates that have cabs that need restoring if i get the itch to do anymore
Or suddenly get more time off work
I still love the cabs but i am getting more into the pcb /crt repairs side of things so buying more test equipment at the moment as
i need something to challenge me to keep being interested in a hobbie

Also planning on going back to college next year and getting a quallification in electronics
Or becoming an electrician

I've been waiting 30 odd years for this, and yet knowing it's on the way across the Atlantic and will be mine soon, time has suddenly ground to a halt and I just want it here now.

If the following is all I manage to get done over the next 12 months then I'll be very happy: -

- Finish the garage to games room conversion

- Put the Daytona twin together

You'd think that the latter would encourage me to get the former done but life keeps getting in the way!

Fingers crossed for spring and then I can spend the rest of the year actually playing games rather than plaster boarding
