Nope, works in no slots.

Odd.

The six slot takes anything in any slot (get you mind out of the gutter!!!) except this cart, which works perfectly in any slot on the four slot.

It’s really not the end of the world, just wondered if anyone had thoughts or experience on it...

Cant see it making a huge difference but worth a go.

Edit: try it with original bios in as well - Although website says its compatible with uni bios.

Dave.

P.s have a look on line see if anyone else had same issue.

Got the whole day to myself, so I'm going to finish the T-molding on the big fella, wire up the 2p side of the panel, replace all of the exterior panels so I can see exactly what needs touching up cosmetically, and I'm going to install a 'coin' button.

Then I can bung it in the corner, where it's going to live eventually and all I'll really be waiting on is the EL panels.

Then, if I'm double brave, I'm going to have a good crack at investigating the wiring in the U4...

Is there a recommended way to wire a coin button? Add it in to the JAMMA (MVS) edge? or maybe extend the wiring from the 'service' button? (This one seems to make the most sense to me)

Another question... with the big cab against the wall, and the small cab next to it, there's no way to access the power switch. I imagine this is a common issue. Do people use the switch at the wall instead and just leave the cab switch at on? In a perfect world I'll be using the socket behind the cab, so no visible wires. I might invest in one of those socket adapters that can be operated by Alexa or Siri maybe?!

Smart plugs are great for my cabs. It's really nice to group them together as arcade and have individual names so I can turn them all on or just turn one on individually using Alexa.

Only just seen this thread, great work!

My xx-1 carts don’t work well on my 4 slot, but work fine on my 1-slots.

Can’t wait to see the video of Blazing Star and Pulstar attract modes running. :)

Yeah, I figured that might be the move. Always good to hear from other people's personal experience first!!

Do you specifically recommend a plug, or will all smart plugs pretty much do the same thing?

Thanks :)

They're probably the two best attract modes on the whole system, right?!

Garou and Last Blade are pretty cool too. For the subject matter, Neo Turf Masters is about as good an intro as you can get for a golf game now I think about it.

I have a soft spot for KoF98 with its rushed vocal introduction cramming in KoF lore, but yeah, Garou and Last Blade are great too.

I especially like games that have a number of intros that they cycle through, Garou is a good example.

I use Kasa plugs. They have never needed a reset which some apparently need from time to time. Very easy to setup and pretty cheap.

So...

Snipped off the wires to the service button and gave them female spade connectors...

TmxU2Dm.jpg

Snipped a couple of wires and spade connectors down to size...

Took the coin entry apart and hot glued the wires in place...

(Please excuse the gross mouse mat!!! )

And then it was time to test...

The closer I get to being done, the more I find to do...

This thing needs an external volume knob for sure.

Thinking I’ll add an amp on top? Anyone done anything similar?

I saw Scarlet Sprites video on doing something similar, looks straight forward enough.

Also, I’m being extremely picky here, but the corners of the monitor are slightly blurry.

I’ve messed with the pincushion dial, and I’ve researched and found that there are no ‘convergence rings’ (whatever they might be?!) on this monitor, but that stick on magnets may help.

Being as clueless as I am, I just want to double check that using magnets on the back won’t cause any harm or affect colour/contrast in any way as I’ve finally got it dialled in just right...

Why do you need an external volume knob?

Sounds tend to be fairly uniform across games, unlike say STV.

The mobos should be outputting more than enough to drive your cab speakers.

Oh yeah, it's more than enough, just be nice to be able to adjust it occasionally without taking the whole front off. Especially as this cab has trip switches on various panels so that if you open it up it kills the power.

It's a home cab, so there are times when I can blast it and times when I want to turn it right down and use the headphone jacks (and volumes in between).

Plus, lets be honest, it's fun to do stuff to the cab

Edit: I'll also be grinding the Metal Slug series a lot aiming to 1cc them all eventually. Sometimes it's a nice change of scenery to have music or a bit of YouTube on while I'm practicing the same level over and over.

You'll definiately be able to change the picture with magnets, but I'll amazed if you can really fix it the way you want to.

Because I'm too fussy, or for some other reason? (You're probably right in any case

Think convergence strip use a special metal. I have some self adhesive magnet tape than has no affect on convergence at all. Anyway, convergence being a bit off in the corners is not uncommon, even usual.

Yeah, if it's 'what to expect', then that's all good. I'm trying to do my best, but being a genuine 'noob', I'm not always sure of what is or isn't realistic.

I'm always open to advice, or even being straight told I'm an idiot if I'm wasting my time with something. :)

My feeling is that the magnets will change the picture in more ways than you can control. You might be able to apply the right force at the right points to fix the issue you have, but doing that while leaving everything else alone feels like it should be incredibly difficult.

But I'm not an engineer. Maybe it's simple!

Got them, and they work great!!! Great tip, thank you :)

I don’t have ‘Alexa’ to turn it all on by voice, but I’m also looking for an excuse to pick up another Sonos speaker to expand the network to the game room, and apparently Alexa is built in to the new ones...

Looks like you just cost me two hundred quid!!
