Cheers you guys!

Sure James, loads of hope for your Defender....just a lot of dust and overspray but a big load of job satisfaction and a mint classic too!

Small update.....masking the cab ready to paint the inside. This takes ages!

Jon you're too kind man, thanks dude. It's getting to that point now where I keep asking myself - ' Al mate, do you really have nothing better to do? ' the answer is of course yes, but I just like this stuff! Anyhow, you know only too well the time and effort that goes into doing these and it really is you're turn next and I don't want any excuses that are wife related!

Dave, yeah it's coming on now, i'm also looking forward to finishing this one as I need my life back!

I've also decided to spray the inside, seems silly rolling it when the outside is sprayed so I've just spent a fortune in Halfords on Satin Black and primer!

Thank you guys, I will update as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow eve!

Hey guys,

Spent a few hours on the cab since the last update.

Basically, sanded the inside with super fine paper that had been primered, hoovered up the dust, wiped the cab over with a damp sponge, dried it and then put it back into my dodgy spray booth for a dose of Black

Removed most of the masking but left the T-molding slot strip in place for now

The black I 'think' is finished, I will put the cab into proper light next to make sure it's covered ok. The next step will be to do a final prep on the two sides, primer and spray some DK blue.

Cheers, Al

Hey guys,

Quick update, under a bit of pressure to get the cab out of the garage due to another job incoming so need to get the final coat on this.

Last evening, I masked the cab........again
smiley19.gif

The two sides were then lightly sanded to remove previous overspray. Not worried about any imperfections that I've missed as the first primer coat will show them up and I can put anything right before the final coat.

Anyhow, into the ' booth ' earlier this eve

Primer on!

Took this picture as it was just a mass of primer mist in there....you can just make it out in the pic but it got really bad!

Anyhow, the finish was good, it was lightly sanded and sprayed again.

The blue will be on tomorrow

Empties so far (well almost..... there are three more not pictured)

Hey guys,

Got to the garage this afternoon to get the final coats finished

First coat went on

All good, 2nd coat

Pretty happy with it. The 3rd can played up slightly, blowing some sh*t onto the cab. Not sure why but it dried back well enough not to have to sand it back so continued with coat three.

DK woz ere.....

Removed the masking and it's blue, at last!!!

More empties

The cab is now out of the Garage and into the house.

Started to strip the marquee retainers

Will finish them off with a drill & wire wheel

Pretty pleased the spraying is finished! This is probably the most in depth and time consuming cab body resto I've done. I have one more of these to do which was going to be done this year but I think I may leave it until next year now!

Just need to start putting this back together

Cheers, Al

You have used a lot of cans but it gets results
It's good you have a garage to spray it in I did mine in a tent In the garden
