Any updates regarding this restoration mate?

Thanks.

Funny you should ask, the Mrs was asking the same question not 10 minutes before! I think what she really meant was "when you getting this bloody thing out of the living room"!

Whats really slowed me down is filling/sanding the side panels. I'd forgotten how dull/time consuming it is. The panel I've started is coming on ok, the corner is now filled and looks close to the original shape. Just need to sand downthe rest of the panel and spray. Then I can get the machine back together and have a decent game.

Quick spray of the filled part, looks ok:

Rubbed the rest of the panel down and gave it a good wash in the bath. Will get it sprayed tomorrow:

Well, finally, it is pretty much all back together. Still need to find a decent coin tower as the one that came with it is a bit shabby. A few (sorry!) pictures:

Thanks all. Other than doing the side panels, I've enjoyed restoring it.

Just a shame that I've bought a few cabs since I started and now don't have room for it :-( There is only so long the Mrs is going to put up with 2 driver cabs in the dining room of our little house (fair enough I guess)!

This one deserves to remain F355.

I scanned all the artwork (most of which wasn't in a great way) and sent it over to Muddymusic. Hopefully he can get some made up as it would finish the cab off a treat.

Would be nice to see someone finish it off and keep as an F355.

Nice job mate.

I agree with keeping this as a dedicated F355 cab, but as you already know you can simply stick in a Chihiro to play Outrun 2. A couple of additional panels and another seatback and you get the best of both worlds.

I'm very impressed with the panel repair mate, what spray paint did you use and how is the colour match when compared to the seatback?

Cheers.

That's a very, very nice restore. Nice details and the powder coating looks great - really brings a cab back to life.

Top marks for the side panel work too - much patience and determination required for that. Panels look fantastic now and ready for art.

Only problem with an F355 cab is the base art is such a let down - they could have done something great but ended up with a bland red stripe on the side and nothing at all on the base lid!

Yeh, I agree. Its like they put all their effort into the game then then couldn't be arsed when it came to the artwork!

I just used a ton of plastic primer and then the closest match I could find in Halfords - Audi Brilliant Red.

It is a reasonable match, enough that it doesn't look terribly out of place. If you put the seat back and the sides together then they are clearly different. However, the seat and sides are far enough apart for it to not jump out too much.
