Yep, another one! Nothing particularly thrilling but I thought I'd document it as it may give some inspiration or possibly be of help to others.

So here goes... we moved house about three months ago and since then, my machines have been in storage waiting for this work to be completed. We were going to get a professional builder in but as I'm now unemployed (victim of the low oil prices) and all the quotes were upwards of 5K, I'm gonna do it myself. I'm a reasonably confident DIY'er, have time on my hands and ultimately we'll save a ton of money, so it's a no-brainer.

I have a 9280x2340mm space, two metres of that will be sacrificed to a utility room (gotta keep the missus happy!) the rest is all 'man cave'.

So far, I have filled about a thousand holes on the walls ranging from screw holes to ones you can get your fist through. I have removed old sockets, light switches etc. and chased in cables. The walls and ceiling will require skimming with plaster further down the line. I have installed a wooden raised floor to compensate for the slope of the concrete floor and I'm currently on with the plumbing. Originally, there was a sink and washing machine point directly behind the roller door. This is being relocated to the diagonally opposite corner. Once the plumbing is done, I need a sparky to change out our old fuse box with a new consumer unit (to be fitted on the 28th July) so until then, I'm kinda stuck.

I have started a Google Photo Album of progress pictures here: https://goo.gl/photos/32JuHkhSxa4EfhTh9 and I'll update this thread and photos as often as I can.

Thanks for reading!

A great start on the walls and floor... looking forward to seeing this one progress!

Will it leave you space to buy more cabs or can you already fill it with what you have?

Okay, an update! Sorry for the delay, I've been waiting on a sparky for the new consumer unit...

Anyhoo:

1. Floor joists and plumbing fitted

2. New consumer unit fitted

3. Sockets and cables chased

4. Floorboards down

5. Access sorted at front of garage

What did you use for the floorboards? I'm currently having my arcade shed wired up and lined, and I think I need to reinforce the floor a bit more to take the weight of the cabs!

Another update...

I got the framework up for the partition walls. Rockwool insulation will be delivered next week along with the plasterboard.

Tomorrow's unenviable task is to get up in the (tiny - built for midgets) loft space and identify and the wiring for the lights. Downlighters in the games room; new fluorescent tube to go in the utility room.

I need to break into the existing wiring to create two separate supplies and also run a light switch to the utility room.

Thanks chaps :)

As for the flooring, I need to give that some serious thought soon. Any suggestions...?

I'm in the same place with the arcade shed, need to get some flooring now. Considering some arcade carpet, something that will work with black light. Anyone had any luck with sourcing this in the UK?

I got samples from birch carpets . Quite good weight of carpet, low pile so good for wheeling on and tread . You can register and get a sample .ordering though takes about 2 months of I can remember?
