This is a new, different project. Check out the video I linked. 3D Fruit machines have been modelled especially for it. Games have more recently been added. Hundreds of machines in FOV playing attract loops, and spatial associated sounds in real-time. Similar projects have been unable to achieve this afaik. It's very clever how JP got this to work. Emulators run in-engine so it all feels very immersive.

Oh and it's easy to set up. What you see in the video is what you get preconfigured after clicking install. You need a decent GPU though.pubjoe2022-10-07 13:31:52

Yeah, I'm definitely lacking space! - What I'd give to be able to have a few dozen aisles laid out like that.

On the subject of videos, I now have a couple of monitors located on the two pillars (either side of where the Crystal Maze machine is shown on the picture) - these are linked to a small Acer PC and when I turn my arcade on, it's set to auto play a video, mirrored on both monitors as an extra attraction!

At the moment, I'm using a 40 minute video that I took from YouTube which simply clicks through many MAME games on the frontend menu screen. This is good as it creates lots of different sounds from classic games and I've set the VLC player to loop when it gets to the end.

Just due to the fact that this is clearly a Hyperspin menu not linked to a Hyperspin machine, I'd like to find something else to use, perhaps a selection of game trailers? What would you find being shown on fixed monitors in an amusement arcade? If anybody has any better suggestions of what else I could be playing on there, I'd be very interested!

Not necessarily Arcade but there are some nice compilations of videogame ads on youtube, along with other classic nostalgia stroking tech ad compilations - like the Scotch VHS skeletons. Might not be what you're thinking of but nice background videos.

Yes, thanks PubJoe. I may edit a compilation of various adverts like those myself.

I've just been watching more of what you posted. That is so clever. It makes me wonder why I've been wasting my time when you can literally walk around a virtual arcade like that on a laptop!

Ouch, that must have hurt letting that one go.

I believe these are just error codes so probably easy fixes for somebody who knows what they're doing. The trouble is, with only having a car for transport, it makes every machine delivered here a permanent fixture!

The older ones needed resetting once an error had occured. When You moves a mchine you always had to reset the damn things. Easy on the old one not sure on the newer. If you need help fixing there are a few on here who maybe able to help - depending on the error codes.

Simon I will watch Demons as dont remeber that one. I remember "The Hand" think it was a 70's one , scared the living bajeebers out of me !!! lol

I reckon we are all going round Petes Christmas day to watch Gremlins !!!

Can we have a pick of the screen ??

Dave.

You'll love demons! Wont give away the plot. I can just taste the hotdogs and pop corn! Come on Pete, sort out those christmas tickets

Not such a wee space, but well filled. Interesting to have a grab crane in there too.

You must be a fan of those money box machines. When in Vegas this year all the casinos were ripping out their machines to be replaced with full screen machines. Even the cases are screen, serious attract modes.

Unfortunately, this picture is a few weeks old and now my Crystal Maze machine is in need of a new screen (it used to flicker and now it won't even turn on) - This crappy JPM machine that I've been posting about is currently in it's place.

I can't wait to get my Crystal Maze back into it's usual spot. It's certainly my favourite of them all. I used to play one at my local back in the 90's. Happy times!

You know you can probably get someone on this forum to repair the monitor chassis?

Yes Infurious, I just have very fond memories of the 80's style cabinet. Personally, I think these modern machines haven't as much character.

That would be excellent. As I'm no expert, I just took a quick look and it's one of those big buggers. I wouldn't have a clue how to even remove it to have it repaired.

If anybody local to me has any knowledge of fixing this and wouldn't charge me fortune, please let me know!

Love the arcade and that cinema is awsome!

I used to have a Crystal Maze cab too. Can you still hear the game music playing when you turn it on?

Me and the Wife will be watching this when we both off together.

And another update guys is the wife has AGREED to getting a quote for the garage after showing her what we would need to do and mentioning it would add value to the house. Think showing her your pics has helped as she cant see what rooms will look like. Onlly problem is I have to empty it of the 1000's of computer stuff in there , Not so easy. Maybe find someone who sells computer stuff and do a bulk deal. I owned a shop and closed it so I have lots of brand new boxed stuff left over.

Dave.

Thanks for your kind comments, Matt.

Yes I can hear the music playing, everything seems to be working except the screen. It would be great to have it working again. My JPM will be getting dumped in the garage then!

The rooms look awesome, really like what you’ve done with both of them!

Remarkably I haven’t watched Demon’s before so will be watching that one tomorrow night

That's a shame, Dave - but if you ever do find yourself in the area, you're more than welcome to call in.

That's excellent news about your wife starting to see the light - in regards to all your old stock, that's why the majority of houses have foundations - I have all my 35mm feature films stored in mine.

I'm just up the road from Batley. I can't repair it, but I can help you remove the chassis and then it would be case of asking someone like Gunblade on the forum to take a look at. Budget approx £100 for a repair and cap kit.

Send me PM if you think I can help....

Ah that's a shame, if the monitor wasn't coming on as well as the game not playing I had a number of suggestions you could try but if everything else is working it sounds like a monitor problem. Sounds like you're in luck though if Jim has kindly offered to come out and discharge and disconnect the chassis for repair.

I always remember my Dad explaining that TV's, monitors and other appliances can hold power for years after they've been unplugged. That's worried me for years - so it's a godsend to have an expert offer to tackle this!
