Been looking forward to this update for quite some time now.

Thank you so much for integrating a SRAM backup.

Was having issues getting into the OSM but I guess I just needed to set OSM mode to REPLAY because I was using single boot mode and powering the Pi separately to the NAOMI.

Gone back to single boot mode without OSM for now as it seems "quirky and slow" to me.

Ok, describe quirky and slow, what are you trying to do exactly?

Mostly that I just prefer single boot mode, but quirkiness in that sometimes OSM just not seem to want to boot/load for me and can take several attempts.

Did notice I get a clicking sound from the Doom port coming from my speakers.

My loader script creates decent logs and you can download them after hitting an issue via the Manage WiPi page, you can email them over to me at chunksinspace@gmail.com and I'll take a look.

That Doom release was an alpha, you can now compile a full version if you have the WAD file for Doom Ultimate or Doom 2 via DragonMinded's blog page. Then just zip it up as a .gz file and drop it into the /boot/roms folder with the same name as the alpha version file.

Pulling my hair out with this and I didn't have much to start with!

I can't be this stupid (can I?!)...

I've downloaded all the files from the link (17 files in total, 14 of which are RAR files, 2 of which are REV files and the PDF manual)

I've extracted all the RAR files using 7zip (do I have to use Winrar?).

I'm left with 14 unzipped folders 13 of which have disk image files which are 0kb.

The file labelled as part 1 is 2.16gb and I assume this is the IMG file to use however I am getting the message that it is corrupted.

I have deleted everything and redownloaded/extracted etc. numerous times and the file is always corrupted.

I burned it to my SD card regardless with win32disk imager just to see what happened and it corrupted my whole pi OS which had to be deleted and reinstalled from scratch.

What the hell am I doing wrong!!!?

HELP!

PS. Has anyone documented the whole process in a video that numbnuts like me can just watch and follow step by step?jerryspaghetti2022-08-31 11:24:44

Using WinRAR open the first file and you should see a file ending in img with an arrow pointing right. Extract that, it'll take a good while and you'll end up with a single img file. Use either Win32DiskImager or Etcher to write the image (not the img file!) to the card

Ah ok cheers guys. Very helpful.

I’ve also got the Adafruit lcd screen on my pi. Once I set up all the IP etc will that screen automatically work to display game list or will I need to do something to configure that screen within the pi OS itself?

It'll work automatically, the LCD plate is the default option. If your display doesn't show anything try adjusting the brightness or set a colour in the Options menu, some screens need that to be set. I have the generic black one with blue LCD and that works without a colour option.

Hallelujah!! Got it going!! I had to extract part 1 it gets to 7% and asks me to manually browse and select the 2nd part then the 3rd, 4th etc. until it gets to 14th part which completes it to 100%. Not sure if this is normal but it might help someone else who has same scenario.

Thanks again Chunkskin. Your instructions couldn't be clearer!jerryspaghetti2022-09-01 02:22:37

I'm pulling my hair out with this, it feels like I am so close, but yet it fails at the game sending part.
I have all the files installed as per the instructions.

I have the Pi connected to the Net dimm and on that screen "manage Netdimms" it says IP Address 10.0.0.2 (online) which suggests that the Pi and Net Dimm see eachother?

On the Net Dimm settings I have IP Address as 10.0.0.2 Subnet 255.255.255.0

But...when I go to game list and launch a game it says Loading "game name" and underneath is a a grey bar the the letters NaN in t and nothing is loading from there. In the address bar on my phone it is repeatedly flashing a blue bar across the screen like its trying to constantly reload the page, it is stuck on this page?

Any ideas?

What device are you loading the game from? NaN normally means it can't read the loading progress file, you could try from a different device or browser, it's written to deal with Chrome and Safari based browsers
