i think you may have a heart attack if you went to Forgotten Worlds in Scotland. I went 2 weeks ago. AES jap in box, 750.
and Jap box art has always been the best to display, regardless of console. I almost bought a jap super famicom today, mainly just to buy the jap games i had myself back in 94.
His prices are always high from my understanding.

Easily go on eBay and get cheaper. See link Neo on eBay

Chill out games sold one via eBay a week ago, boxed and in nice condition for £550

Yes definitely. On the whole Japanese artwork was a lot better.

I'm no Neo Geo expert but did those snap lock cases only come out a few years after the consoles release? I mainly remember the normal cases. For me, Magician Lord just doesn't look right in a snap lock box, that's not how I remember it, it should look like the pic below surely?

There were 3 box styles. First batch games came in cardboard boxes, they didn't fare well

Given what seems like huge amount of interest in this, I imagine the number of aes owners will massively increase so I wonder if economies of scale will mean things like the flash carts or new release games will become cheaper?
Although I have ordered one a massive thing for me will be whether scanlines will be available over hdmi, failing that are there any cheap ish low/zero latency options for adding them? I recently sold my Retrotink and don’t really need all the extra functions they offer, I just want scanlines!

Now that I check, I can’t find any announcements from the official channels. Perhaps it’s not being released in Japan, so they’re not mentioning it? Perhaps it’s a licence only thing and it’s all under Plaion??

So, eventually I see the new AES is mentioned on this SNK website:

So I'd better shut up now :D

i invested in a scanline generator. Not just to play games as they should be, but i remember watching all my early anime and hong kong action cinema on a crt, so to watch bubblegum crisis and most of the john woo /tsui hark back catalogue in og early 90s mode make my ' member berries jingle.

it was the one from alix, 23 quid.
mine works well . scart from consolised mvs goes to gbs-c, the hdmi from that goes into the sc generator then the 50 8nch led tv. Uses a mini usb for power but works well.

Sorry to tease, I just think it's asking a bit much when it's already a miracle announcement. They're producing a dedicated chip console, accessories and cross-compatible carts in matching repro snap lock cases at £69 each. The company's proven solid with previous releases, they've worked with the right people in the community and they actually stick with their products instead of doing one limited FOMO release then running away. This time next year you might be able to pop to Argos and buy a Neo Geo.

The only catch is it all seems too good to be true. They've got all the details spot on imo. Can't think of another retro console release that's ticked a fraction of these fantasy boxes.

Never thought that date specific case variation would be on anyone's list.
Not at all mate, I am fussy as f!ck with that sort of thing and would happily pay extra if what I have in my hand looks and feels as much like the original as possible which is what they're going for with the console and the joystick. I think if you've always wanted to own for instance Magician Lord (like I have) then it being in the correct box would have finally scratched that itch. I thought everyone that remembers them would want the games to look exactly like they did in 1990?

And I agree completely, it still all feels to good to be true especially at that price, can't wait!
