Thanks Dee2er, ive uploaded the horizontal and vertical images with the brightness/gamma fixes/shader options, the PI has been overclocked in the config file in the root directory (revert to original settings if you wish) link below its an img file (best to open the link in Chrome rather than IE) :

HORIZONTAL
https://mega.nz/#!rdU0gbjA!FwqTQ4rJp9o-8mPoL43kQydZLv4pU8PC9ymwk8VRnzQ

VERTICAL
https://mega.nz/#!yNVzGDpT!jtLiS1K8faHEafEdJVZrZqMPZ4bjiGxhns3_AsHDJZI

Adjust each emulator as follows in the linux partition :

MAME4all

home/pi/mame4all edit mame.cfg file gamma (current default setting) 1.25

MAME 106

home/pi/.advance advmame.rc display_brightness (current default setting) 1.25

FBA & MAME 078

Enter Retroarch menu by pressing player 1 start and F1 select quick menu then shader options then menu shader parameters and adjust brightness boost and gamma to required setting then go back a menu and select apply shader changes and then press F1 and player 1 start to go back to the game.

Also I found this site : http://thepinnyparlour.com/download.html theres a very handy script to separate horizontal and vertical roms (VMOVE.BAT and HMOVE.BAT) useful for people who want to have seperate SD cards for horizontal and vertical games worked well for me.

New software version is finally uploaded. Now with rpi2 and rpi3 compatibility, plus Daphne. I consider this a beta release as I haven't had the time I would like to test it but wanted to get it out there for the people who wanted to play with rpi3.

Hi, kinda missed this first time around. What's the deal with powering off a rPI MAME setup? Is there a clean shutdown required or can you just switch it off like a normal PCB? Has the filesystem been mounted R/O so prevent any data corruption (except maybe the configs and hi score nvram)? Would be cool to get it as close to a real PCB as possible.

Secondly (sorry I know it's probably buried somewhere in the thread), was a bulk deal ever sorted or do we order direct from dee2er? Either way, what's the prices for bare/fully loaded?

Anyhow, looks a great project, props to you dee2eR. Wonder if it's possible to get a parallel port working with rPI and older MAME, see if it can talk to a ZVG...

I ordered mine direct... I already had a suitable Pi (v2 and v3 only) so could get two boards in one box for the same postage...

Prices here...

I'd recommend making a back-up and doing a proper shutdown if you make changes but for normal use I haven't had any problems just switching off my cab. Return to the game menu first if you want your scores to save.

Price is AU$155 for the adaptor board without a pi. 150 if you only need high res output and not RGBS on the JAMMA edge.

It maybe cheaper for you to source a pi2 or pi3 locally but I can also build the board with one for you (pi2 is AU$50 and pi3 is AU$62, these are the prices I pay and I add no extra on top).

I don't know if ZVG will ever be supported, but I'd sure like one of those multi vector setups they look awesome. USB peripherals like lightguns and optipacs should would with it though.

OK thanks, I just wondered if anything had been done to the Linux image to try and prevent it writing (as much as possible) to the SD card. Obviously something is probably being written most of the time in the background but hopefully nothing to critical. As you say, having backups on hand seems like a good idea :)

Yeah the ZVG thing was a bit of a reach, first there's the parallel port compatibility, then the MAME code to output to it. All in all probably a stretch too far but we can dream :) Would be uber cool to have a ZVG powered by a pi, finally a standard hardware/OS that everyone could use and obtain easily.

MODEL 2: the supermodel emulator can run on a pi but is far from full speed and playable. I haven't tried it personally but I've read it's about 5fps on a rpi2 (I forget what game).

I can offer a video amp added to the underside of the board for an extra AU$20. It's a little hacked in but works well. New version of the hardware will be coming soon with it designed into the board.

Thanks for uploading another video of the system in action.

Big news, v3 RaspberryJAMMA boards are now available to order. Improvements from v2 include video amp and switchable pure-JAMMA (w kick harness)/ 6-buttons-on-JAMMA. Price has gone up by $5 to AU$160 + delivery without a pi purely due to the extra parts. Full pi3 setup is AU$222 + delivery. Postage to the UK is $20.

hi, i'm very interested in getting one.

since i have very little time these days, i just want something that i can plug and play. will the full kit do that? when it comes in the post, can i take it out, plug it into my egret 2, turn it on and a menu will pop up and i can select a game and play? or will be there files that i need to download, menus i need to configure? etc etc?

thanks.

If the basic setup suits you all you would need to do is copy roms to the sd card then it's just plug and play like any other JAMMA board.

No roms are included though, you have to supply your own.

so, if i understand correctly, i buy the package where everything's assembled and it comes with a SD card.

i hook that SD card to my computer and i put some rom files into a folder.

i put the SD card back into the device, plug it into my cab, power it up, it will boot to a menu with a list of games. i pick the game and i can start playing?

i dont mind fiddling with menus if i need to swap shoot & bomb buttons around for the odd game, but generally, if the above is all it takes to start playing, then i'm good to place order. can you confirm? thanks.

There are 3 versions of MAME used and one version of FBA. Romsets are mame0.37b5, mame0.78, mame1.06 and FBA uses a current set (or nearly current set I can't remember offhand). Also whatever the romset Daphne uses is called.

vib_ribbon some things are more complex as I haven't set up every game in MAME or anything but the gist is right: add roms and play away.
