Yep, you're spot on

it's a modded version, I've got the driver compiled and working, just adding my automation scripts and it'll be ready for release. This is based on Retropie now as it's just easier to work with and using mme4crt to handle resolution switching

Hi All

Would just like to provide an update

I recieved my RGB-Pi, its all installed as per instructions from Rich which were great however i seem to be having issues viewing certain emulators, example the Lynx console is not there but first and foremost there is no mame games also, and no images are appearing so it is just showing the zip file.

I added the roms via connecting to the wifi on the Pi then on my pc browsing to the network share via explorer and it comes up with the folders to add the roms, which ive done but to no avail.

the card im using is 128gb, i first used AOMEI Partition Assistant to convert the card to FAT32, Then Etcher to add the image to the memory card and then add the roms as above.

i know some people are saying they used below to add the roms by mounting the SD Card

https://www.paragon-software.com/home/linuxfs-windows/

can some one advise what the exact location for the roms is, there seems to be a few places and everytime i put the card back to the Pi its still showing zero roms.

A big thanks to you all and especially Chunksin he has been a lifesaver.

Thanks Simon

After adding, you need to restart the unit as well. Adding the files by network does not show them appear in real time. On reboot, retropie/emulationstation should scan & see the files.

Mine got here yesterday still waiting on the 3A+ to arrive. :)

My 3A arrived. This solution is the best thing since sliced bread. What a relief after coming from pandora!
It's not 100% for noobs. A tiny bit of linus knowledge is needed.

Had totally missed this - looks really good. great that it amplifies the sound as well. Very neat. All it needs now is a little Chunksin magic!

I don’t think you really need any Linux knowledge to be honest. As long as you can use something like putty or cyberduck I’d say that’s all you need to know.

I picked one of these cards up, along with the Raspberry Pi3 Model A+. I downloaded all the Arcade Classics ROMs and BIOS from telegram, but have some issues with performance.

Games like R-Type and Golden Axe are so slow, yet other games like Ghosts N Goblins and Shadow Warriors are fine.

Anyone else notice this? I'm starting to wonder if it's my Micro SD card, but thought I'd check to see if anyone else had issues.

Also, is the O/S on RGB-PI's website the best there is at the moment? I notice there's a lot of custom images available for Raspberry Pi that look far better from an astatic point of view.

I've been using the RGB Pi for a long time, I actually bought an early beta from the developer a long while back. His earlier images were arguably better, but these weren't using his custom os rather versions of recalbox etc. I'm unsure if these builds are still available on his site though.

I saw your video on you tube running recalbox. It looks great.

I’m just having mixed results with performance, which I’d like to understand if it’s just my setup (maybe a dodgy SD card?

That's interesting, I will post of a video later on what I'm experiencing.

I bought a Micro SD card from eBay, it was in original packaging, but there's so many fakes around, I wonder if I have a fake with rubbish read/write speeds (which might be causing the issue for me on certain games).

Games I'm have issues with so far are:

R-Type

Golden Axe

Shinobi

For example, but Ghosts N Goblins and other games are fine.

Edit: I checked the spec of the Micro SD card, and it's 10mb/s r/w I think that's the issue (ordered a new Micro SD card at 100mb/s r/w).

Did you update the video setting file that was supplied in the rom pack ? - This is supposed to have the correct resolutions and refresh rates ! (The stock one in the main card image has some settings wrong)ColinD2020-01-14 14:13:02

I didn't do this, I just burned the image and sFTP the ROMS and BIOS to the respective directories.

Would you mind pointing me the the video settings I need to update?

Edit: I haven't installed the heatsink on the audio circuit yet (waiting on the post). It's really the audio that glitches out so could be this I suppose). The actual video is okay with no screen tearing.

I don't think that'll be SD card speed. The way mame works is it loads the entire rom into memory and then runs it. It's more likely that your pi isn't getting enough power, or possibly a lack of free memory on the 3A+ (I only use 3B's here).

I could double check the power, although a lot of the other ROMs work just fine, it just seems to be a select few.

The 3A+ and 3B have the same amount of memory I believe.

Edit: My switching power supply is running 4.7v!!! Turned it up to the recommended and now the image is corrupted. Will re-burn image and test (Will probably wait for the heatsinks to arrive also).
