I'm not sure I understand why you are sad he doesn't want to give his hard work away for free? Maybe some antidepressants might help. Prozac anyone?

Then I will help you understand.
Back in October 21 I asked him about the additional cable to be able to measure 24/28 pins ics.
His answer was: "I don't have any made up at the moment as I really find them fiddly to make."

That's why I asked him on Nov 3 about the gerber files for the small pcb.
I wanted to make the cable simply myself.
It is only your wrong assumption that someone should "give his hard work away for free".
I paid ~ 190 GBP for the software and ~ 100 GBP for one cable to be able to measure up to 20 pins ics.
I would have even paid 400 GBP for the software only, because I see there the real value.
The cable is something that should be available and I think it would be better for the project that cables can be made in larger numbers, that is my only wish.
As said I see the real value in the software not in the cable and I would pay even more to Aaron because I value his work. But it is his decision, so I have to make the cable myself somehow.

That said:
I contribute to my community here locally, I repair for friends and their friends PCBs for years now, I "invest" several hundreds of hours into these repairs each year for free ... I never complained but I get so much back because I always stay friendly and factual ... this is in a way my antidepressant when I get it back positively

Peace to all.

ok. Don't want to get drawn into a mud throwing contest but.....

The additional cable is for 28/32 pin devices you can already do 24 pin devices with the standard cable.
You sent me 2 PM's on the 3rd November, I answered the first one. Then shortly after you sent me another that I didn't see for a while.
I don't normally have a breakdown price for the software & cable & clip, it was at your request I split it that way to reduce import charges I believe.
If you had responded directly to my email at the end of December about the updated software you would have found that I had an Extension Cable in stock. This has since been sold to someone that asked in January.

The cable components and how it is constructed is crucial to how well Slice works, reduced quality components, poor soldering even cable lengths & pcb track size/lengths could greatly affect the sampled data. This is especially true if the expansion cable has been made differently as this could cause skewing of the sample data by several ns.

My biggest concern about your post is that it implies that I have left the forum and stopped work / supporting Slice which is not true!

Anyway, enough of this now..... I will get in touch with you once I have some more ribbon and can make some more cables!

Hi,

I still remain interested in getting one.

If the only payment option is PayPal (I had PM'd about doing bank xfer), then I'll get that done once you have more cables made up.

Thx!

You implied completely wrong ... I never used words that even remotely imply this but I expressed that I hope you are fine!

You are true, enough of this for both of us.

Thanks for your offer but I made a prototype for being able to do 28/32 (my was wrong 24/28) today. I needed this desperately.
It was a 15 minutes job, looks ugly but works perfectly.

I used an ORCA Looper board and measured the 22 pin 93422 RAM both with the original 24 cable from you and then with my prototype boards attached.
Both gave the same feedback, very positive!!

All the best and keep on doing the good work with Slice ... at last I can go on with so many repairs here involving 28 pins, have nearly 50 pcbs on my workbench ....

You will get some skew in the signals and may get some interference from straight ribbon, just keep an eye on the bottom 8 signals when using it just in case.

Anyway, I have been through the inbox/thread and this is the current interest list:

Hello,

I replied on the 17th November I assumed I was still in a queue or was your mailbox so heavily spammed you haven't seen/got my reply

I'm still interested!

Please add me to the list. When do you think you will be able to do another un of kits?

Sorry, have been ill, had the booster jab, had side effects, after a week was tested and turned out to have covid! It's been a rough couple of weeks
smiley6.gif

Anyway, I do have a few cable sets made up and have ordered some more clips along with parts to make more cables. I will be sending new messages to the first few on the list in order.

Glad you are feeling better. I caught Omicron myself (I'm double vaxxed and boosted) a couple weeks ago. Felt like a really bad cold for 1.5 weeks, hate to know what it would have been like unvaccinated.

Anyway, looking forward to buying your product. I already have the correct logic analyzer, so will be in the camp of just needing the cables/software.

I boxed up 7 Slice kits last week as I was feeling better.
I send 4 pm's initally, follwed by another 3.
One of those Slice kits is already on its way to the USA.
Three of those PM's have still not be read.
One has responded and will proceed.
Funny thing is the other 2. They read their PM's over 4 days ago but still not sent me any message in return. Both of these people posted very recently on this thread saying they were still interested but their actions speak very differently.
I hope they haven't bought cables made elsewhere under the belief they will work nicely, they won't!
If I keep getting a lack of responses the list will be dumped and it will be a first pay first served approach. Don't see why I should deprive interested people for those who can't be bothered to reply.

Hi,

I’m one of the ones you’re waiting on a reply on.
Been waiting on my client paying his invoice - just arrived today, finally - and also been a bit shocked and unable to concentrate much due to what’s going on in Ukraine.

Will have everything in place by the weekend.

Aaron,

I have a PCB here that has an error eventually - would I be able to hook Slice up to a chip and have it keep sampling until it gets an incorrect response on one (or more) pins. (or just keep going if not)

n.b. I can't do that with the ABI, since I can't actually run the PCB - I can only loop the test on a chip, and if it errors it beeps and continues with more tests anyway, so if you miss the beep you have no idea it happened!
