Have to agree with everyone else, this is a great thread. Love the fact the machines all seem to be from 1980/81 and before, but no later. A complete time capsule, and truly sterling work with the photos preserving this. Top stuff.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but how did you decide who got what?

Cabs were put into tiers of desirability, with people not being able to take more than one from each tier, unless no one else showed interest.

People weren't allowed to take a cab they already have, unless no one else showed interest.

That kind of stuff - was complicated but worked out well. Plus I knew certain people were after certain games.

I must say I was a bit disappointed to not be involved, considering I live down the road. I'm sure others will feel the same.

I would have personally pledged some time to help out with no thought of owning any of the cabs

Maybe next time

Wow Bruno! Hilarious, informative, even moving at times. The history and dedication, commitment and fun of all of this, it almost feels like it should have had a professional film crew and it made into a proper documentary for TV narrated by David Attenborough or something

. I'd buy the DVD of that for sure

All in all, a great story and brilliantly told mate. Nice one.

Hi mate,

Unfortunately I don't know you too well. By default I put people in I knew, but primarly I knew could stump up cash at a moments notice. This was more about saving the games than any collector.

Maybe if you come to a few meets you can introduce yourself and things will change.

I couldn't please everyone, and there weren't enough cabs for all unfortunately. But there will be more deals to come!

Hi mate

I realise you personally don't know me that well, however others that
were involved do know me and others quite well, and know that we are
local. I think the point I'm making is that we were on the doorstep of
the find, and could have lent some time to help, without necessarily
wanting to own any of the cabs. Not all of us need to get something out of a raid

With regards to introducing myself, I'm on IRC a great deal of the time,
and have been for quite some time (2 years?), like many of the people
involved. The meets might be difficult if they are all down south, but I
guess that this is probably the case for others based in the North aswell?

I know you couldn't please everyone, and I'm sure there will be opportunities in the future.

I'm pleased that you managed to rescue them, and agree that it's about the games

I set out a few ground rules - primarily that no fecker was allowed to tell anyone else. So if you have any people that you do know, that were in on the deal and didn't tell you please don't blame them.

That part is all my fault, and many people did ask to get others involved, but it was such a mine field trying to organise everything I just didn't have the capacity to manage it.

I have had a quite a few people say they just wanted to help, I wish I could have got more people in for the experience - but we were limited by the owners as too how many people were allowed on/near the ship for health and safety reasons.

Anyhow, I know you're in Wales now - i'll remember that bit

I'm in Manchester dude, but there's a few of us around Manchester, Warrington, Liverpool, Chester etc, so all fairly close by.

Thanks for explaining things
