I though it was time to try some Super Missile Attack, as if Missile Command isn't hard enough.

The nice thing about MC & SMA is you get a decent Arcade fix....quickly!

That is some tough stuff and finding it hard going.

Undercover Cops by Irem, I really like this beat em up as it adds a few quirky things, like the trash compactor that the first boss can throw you in for instant death, but you can nail him too..

From the same team behind metal slug and you can see the same art style.

This is one of those games where you just have to get the updated version, called "alpha renewal". Massive difference, better music, loads more moves. Andy geezer (after a communication problem) got a romset for me, worked great.

It's a bit obscure, not well known but check it out

Ah yeah, nice one and pulling off one of the moves in alpha renewal too! Watch out for some easter eggs like the r-type televisions.

After a few plays there, I'd sum it up as "cyberpunk final fight"

The game reminds me of the cybercity manga UK videos, they were great stuff back in the day, the profanity was something else. Great music for the English release too.

What blew my mind is how the first boss tries to throw you into the pit to get crushed. Whole battle with him depends on who gets who into that pit. Thought that was clever.

I currently only have the use of one hand so PAC-MAN has got my attention this week.

I've always preferred Ms PAC & Jr PAC but I found a cool video by Jamey Pittman showing PAC-MAN grouping methods which opened up a whole new world.

I've been here before, learning to group etc but this time I've actually got sucked into the game and have finally started to understand the different characteristics of the four Ghosts which has opened the game up a treat.

For those of you that like the game but haven't tried grouping give it a bash because when you do finally get it together it's very rewarding......until Clyde sods off on his own of course when you are approaching a power pill!

I'm now starting to understand why the 'perfect' game players actually go for the perfect game.

Awesome!

If anybody knows of any decent links that are worth a read/watch about grouping please post as I have some spare time for a week or two.

GUN FORCE II

IREM.

Managed to get 30 mins of my life back today
so i dedicated to gun force 2
and it didn’t let me down.

i was treated to a tour de force as the title lovingly alluded to.
if you like your run & gun you already know.

what a treat to see all that makes metal slug series so good all packed in here in spades also..
and hearing all the families sounds too..

all irem games seem like they just got something special thrown in the mix
it’s just a treat to see such massive sprites on screen
and such beautifully drawn and realised pixle art characters.

what a shame irem didnt make more games but at least we got the ones they did!!
nothing comes close to there genius… pure adrenaline pumped pleasure…

can’t wait to get my next go at it…

just getting back to play my cabs now and it seems irem are there like an old friend..
warming the cockles of my hart..

Back to Missile Command.

Improvements are minimal but what a game this is.

Being colour blind especially on blues/greys, the two blue screens are causing me grief as I struggle to see the damned smart bombs, so once I've locked onto them I have to stick with them until they're dust which doesn't help with the constant abuse from the Missiles which are getting quicker by the minute. By the time I've sorted the smart bombs out, the Missiles are already on my bases especially if I miss first time.

Great stuff, thoroughly enjoying a really awesome challenge and I may break 100k before I'm 70.

Thanks to the post holding onto it since 1972, I was finally able to play this vigilante pcb.

It had been donkeys years since I'd played it and I was surprised at the difficulty, you can get the head lumped off you in seconds if you screw up. Playing it more and more you figure it out of course (which I always do on my own, no videos or tips to get that bitd-i-dont-know-what-im-doing vibe!). Made it to level 4 on my usual 2 credits thing so far. Funky music on level 3.

Good game though! Much like Kung Fu master it has the real "whack" beating up the baddies and it's a lot of fun.

I thought this was worth a picture a few days back...

Magician Lord on the neo geo. This game has a lot going for it even though its an early release game for the platform.

Choices in how you go through the levels, interesting power up system changing into different creatures, cool monster design, and that early engrish vocals which are always funny.

Pretty difficult though, and I don't like the way the bosses energy stays the same when you lose a life, making it easier if you keep continuing. Still, cool game all round, well worth a look!

Street fighter alpha 3, have it hooked up to a supergun the last couple weeks. Just a really great game, the best street fighter game in my opinion (also known as fact).

One of the mind blowing things for me way back when was being able to play 3 fighters as once, dramatic battle. You can unlock this mode, as well as a whole loooooad of other secret unlocks. Check them out here..

Great tunes throughout, all that "hype" stuff, plus the announcer who sounds like he's on cocaine.

When I found that pcb on an Op's shelf I was 100% sure it would be dead with the battery, but no, was still going strong decades later!

Special mention to the Dreamcast version which is too notch.
