There are micro transactions, luckily other than extra car packs you can work around it with the credits you earn. However there is one car pack that is £39.99!

£40 knicker? blimey, I'd want the actual motor for that

is it plugged into the wall or a gang socket? Had a friend that had to plug it into the wall for whatever reason.

Interesting, I'll text him to try as he has about 1000 things plugged into the same socket.

Does sound like it might be too much current draw on the power strip. I'm willing to bet the XB One needs the equivalent of a small nuclear reactor to power it

He got the thing to hard reset and got it up and running. Then he put his first disc in and it sounded like a robot puking. He's tried all sorts but it sounds like it's trying to eat the disc. It says disc read error after 30 secs or so.

He's even more vexed now.

I've been playing Moon Cresta this afternoon instead. Old skool FTW! (I'm still crap though)

Problem is, I gotta pay to send it back to Amazon.com. Then buy another from .com as they are different than .co.uk & pay the crazy post & TAX to get the new one back over here

I'm not sure how you do it, but you should not have to pay the tax again. There will be a way to send it back for replacement without incurring the tax a second time. Get hold of HMRC and find out how to do it.

@pooman: sadly, this time round I don't think there is a safe bet, other than to wait until next year some time !

I did call sony uk last night but I was to honest & told them its an import console so they said I had to call sony.com. I looked online on the official sony forum, 2/3h waiting to get through only to be told to return it to sony for a recon.

Interesting about the tax if thats true, I had to pay £65 tax for it alone!

If it wasn't possible then not only would you have to pay a second time, but your mate would have to pay customs and import duty in the US when you send it to him. I know in the past when people have sent boards from outside of the EU for people to repair you can get them marked up in such a way that there's no duty for the repairer to pay. You wouldn't repair anything from abroad otherwise!

It's perfectly possible that you may have to provide evidence that it's going back for repair, etc., and I don't know all the details as I've personally never done it, but again, HMRC will be able to tell you.

It may be that you have to claim a refund on what you paid the first time round, and then pay it again later?
