Bloody hell. How did this guy's property end up inside a fortress? As it is his property, I would have thought he would be allowed access to it... somehow.

If I was close by I would nip through the hole the kids go through and take a look.

If I thought the stuff was worth saving I would then:

Get a helper, possibly two.

Get a sack truck

Wire cutters

Cable ties

I would then plan the route the cabs would go through on the sack truck, go get them, cut a bigger hole in the fence, then use the cable ties to tie the hole back together once done.

As its ex-MOD I presume the land is still owned by the goverment. You have a) take the cabs or b) try and find who owns the cabs and ask whether you can take them

We believe the land was sold off to a private company/individual, but it was unknown who it was sold off to.

If any of you want to brave it then I am more than happy to pass on the details that I have.

Please bear in mind if you do go an investigate, and take anything then

1) It has nothing to do with me
2) If anything happens then it is nothing to do with me

My personal view on it is it's too risky and not worth the hassle. A shame but that's the situation

Even if the whole cab can't be saved, the monitor would fit through the hole in the fence probably

You have to crawl under the fence, so that's not an option either. Obviously a medium res monitor is worth saving, but even extracting that would be difficult

Find who owns the land and do it properly. Not worth getting nicked for an arcade machine!!!

Exactly this.

All the information about the machine and the location wasn't available straight away but once we learned a bit more it was apparent that without doing investigation in to the current ownership of the land it wouldn't be able to be taken. It wasn't a simple rescue mission from wasteland.

Sneaking in and looking at it is one thing but cutting fences, taking it out of a storage lorry and taking it home is stealing. There's also an old mini there and a landrover so might as well take those as well eh?

It'd be great if someone gets hold of the owner and its cleared to be removed. If that happens I'd be more than happy to lend a hand getting it out.

Sounds like a plan, cab on the roof of the landrover and drive it out of there use the mini to flatten the fence. With the mini it'll be like the Italian job.

There is no harm in trying if it's something you really want, though I would only do it if was myself going to fetch it and because I wanted it, it's a mission worth taking on to get something you really really want

I wouldn't of traveled all the way to Scotland just on off chance I could access the building with Crossbow cab, that would be just crazy but while I was making a trip to Glasgow area for Hi Fi stuff and another Arcade machine it was worth another hour or so to Kirkcaldy while I had a van to see what the crack was and it paid off, that wasn't worth the hassle trying to track down owners for a cab that was smashed up and dropping to bits but this one don't look too bad so I would for one like that

Worst is, they say sod off

Problem is that from the info I've found the site was bought from the MOD via a sealed bid, so finding the owner and speaking to them is going to be quite a task in itself

For whoever is thinking about going and getting it. Don't let it turn into the Sundance thread from KLOV.

If you go and get it' shut up about it!

As it is currently it would be stealing simple as that. The machine and the land belong to a private individual. As I said before you might as well go ahead and take the cars on the site as well classic minis are worth a bit and very popular.

If someone cut through your garden fence took and your push bike because they didn't think you appreciated it enough or had never seen you use it i'm sure you'd be pissed off.

I'm pretty certain many people on here have warehouses full of machines that they haven't played on or looked at in years why not pass on the location details and we can all rock up and take what we want. It's not right that someone else has a space harrier in a lock up and I don't have one.

If someone wants to chase up the owner and find out if they can have the machine then that's totally fine. Someone mentioned earlier if anyone really wanted it they'd be chasing up the leads and trying to secure the machine and I totally agree. It's not a game that does anything for me so I wouldn't be motivated to do such a thing but if it was something I loved I definitely would be.

I have a feeling some people would actually be more interested in just taking the monitor and nabbing the board as that'd be easy to take. Rather than rescuing the machine.

simply going there and stealing any of it is bullsh*t.
