Pwm2Happ
For pc to happ motor
View attachment 53650

I have one of these on order .
And just wonderd ?
If windows works with this sega rally 3 cab why is this needed ?
If you use teknoparot and pay licence for BFF will all TP driving games have original ffb in a sega rally 3 cab ?

And how does the SR 3 happ dash compare to model 2 dash ?

Model 2 emu is great as ffb is all original só that is going to work right off the bat 😁for you .

I was looking at those but couldn't see anywhere mentioned prices, sounds good as just plugs straight in SR3

Guy had SR3 and bought Pwm2Happ as he said the original I/O board in these needs some code from original Europa-R PC to enable it so without windows picks it up as Sega USB I/O but does nothing, FFB boards is controlled by I/O Card through Parallel Port so have no chance getting that to work on standard PC

SR3 is more basic FFB than other sega cabs being standard happs setup, the older ones are great with the boards now available to connect to PC but these are nice having LCD straight off for later widescreen games has well as 4:3

That setup for the SR3 looked a bit complicated, because it's got happs wheel I'm going with USB Immersion setup which is pretty straightforward and setup as typical PC Wheel connected

yeh i agree ..

A Bit simpler now but still confusing.

The way I’m going is ..
I have asked aganyte and seems for the expansion mini pcbs ..
They only handle the analogue stuff.. lights ,buttons ,pedals ,steering.

The ffb digital conversation between the ultimate force feedback pcb and the pc is handled with a usb from pc to usb micro uffb pcb input to a
Leonardo / Arduino mega to
Handle the ffb to motor pcb.

To transfer the ffb info to your motor driver pcb.

I have 2 rs242 Naomi f355 type
This way I can have a multi driver with all original feedback into original sega model2 type dash ..

All I have to now is do it 😉

My Twin machine was empty Initial D cabs and I had some Model 2 dashes that I converted to happs wheels years back in sega dash so it's same as SR3 but with Outrun 2 style wheel, also have F355 paddle shifters as well as standard shifter, of course after I'd done all this guys started making kits for them lol but they work fine, then I also I have Clutch and 6 speed Shifter to add for PC Sim stuff. Need to make space to get working on them though, be nice to play some driving games

Initial D is something that I want to have a go at ..

Working out how to emulate the card system is something i plan to do as soon as I get going when ffb is up and running ..

I have a touring car cab
With an original Xbox one ms9
Xbox one has had upgrade and flash to chihiro running outrun2

Ffb is pants though!
Only has one level of a basic “shake”
Só I plan to upgrade this cab also as I have three spare dash
2 nos motor driver PCB’s also
Been a while in the planing but space is right I can only just work on one cab..

I’m kinda paranoid of burning out a good motor drive pcb as I saw My Lindberghs caps flare up I’m apprehensive to connect that in cab although it still works some how 😆 don’t know why it still works
All smoothing caps I guess ..

I have a chihiro i could put in but apprehensive also to put that in ..

I have a ring edge coming i will try ..
Then the Lindbergh ..

Then a pc with this ultimate ffb pcb …

Hopefully somewhere along that line i will have a working cab ..
Or 2
Or even possibly if not to much decides it dosent want to work a mirical might happen and three could be working ..

Would be great to have emulated card system for the Initial D games now i sold my cab, it was pants for arcade as it was just about fleecing you of money, I remember having first go and couldn't believe the cheek of having to pay even though you won the 1st race lol so that was my last go on it
For home use its brilliant with card saves and upgrades
Reason I sold Sega Rally was because the emulator even years back was like playing original machine so I thought I'll replace it with a Twin PC based machine

The later hardware I just wonder when it will break and can you repair it, Naomi 1 isn't so bad but everything after that I don't really want original hardware

Just waiting for boards to turn up now to get this cabs controls working, though I need to fit 2nd base fan and look at some other mods

Wish I had space for a Flight based cab also as there is a Planet Harriers shell on ebay

Grand kids complained for about 5 minutes once they spotted it'd gone - then realized the dartboard and the two Arcade1Up's were now usable and that was it....

Now I have space to move around the garage sort out is going as a pace - Found out I have 4 x Ringedge-1, 2 x Ringedge-2, 8 x Type-X2, 3 x Type-X3, 10 x Naomi's that were spread around the garage.

Better still both Vewlix-F are fully accessible and working.

Looking on AP - there's an old thread that points back to AGS's site so AndyGeezer might be able to tell you how to "Enable" the Sega USB adapter to work with windows.

Snagged this from archive.org (as the original ags page is deleted/moved).

About 838-0005UK [Sega Amusements UK I/O Board]

Bejewelled/The Grid/Sega Rally 3/Shoot This, Win.

Product Details
We also use this board in our bespoke PC products as it offers analogue and digital inputs - for example Model 2 emulator. It's fully DirectInput compliant and allows the end user to hook up Sega driving cabs to PC and IR Type 2 gun games to PC for use with MAME etc.

More Info
CN4 4pin JST NH connector (5V Power in)
------------------------------------------------------
04 +5v
03 +5v
02 GND
01 GND

CN3 5pin JST NH connector (12V Power in)
--------------------------------------------------------
05 +12V
04 +12V
03 NC
02 GND
01 GND

Please be aware the power inputs are different than the JVS I/O, GND/Voltage are swapped!

Also I've 100% had it working with one of the SR3 images floating around - there was a setup/config program you could run and the VTS pcb and all the controls could be tested (couldn't get FFB to do anything though) - I'm sure I used it under windows 10 IOT on a normal PC.

Also Andygeezer was selling io cards a wile back that fitted the Europa-R PC's.

So you got these working with standard PC setup then Mr Geezer? It would be cool if you could use all the original hardware but the FFB would be the major issue, be good for something without it though

Holy moly, yes that brings back memories, yeah it's a standard Windows Direct Input controller, but it's locked by default - so if you say go into joy.cpl the inputs are frozen.

You have to run shell.exe from Sega to unlock the I/O board, then it's operational. I had some simple script to run shell.exe then terminate the process.

The FFB is really easy to control, it's just 4bit of data and 1bit for direction - it can be controlled via parallel port using Out32 or can be hooked up to a JVS board, and then controlled via GPOs (although the +5v input on the happ motor board would need to be resolved, as Sega cut the traces on those board). But yeah, the happ motor board is pretty shit, doesn't really offer the power required (only 24VDC), where as the motor is really geared up for around 45-90VDC. heck on the lower power levels it doesn't really have the power to move the wheel.

Awesome stuff Andy. You forget how old this is now, 2008 so 2 years from 20 year old and released 10 years after Sega Rally 2

Is that really all the Happs board powers the FFB Motor with, 24V? thats bonkers like the boards from other machines were 24v supply and then board amplified it I assume, sure I had a go on Rally 3 arcade years back but can't remember what the FFB was like, I remember playing SR1 Deluxe and FFB on the one I played was mental, had to use both hands, was far stronger than F355 Deluxe or anything I've played

Rally 3 is a great game, let down by the controls. :(

I developed a program to use Lindbergh serial type motor boards, which really give it the power required.

try this... Was in a folder "C:\Sega\Shell" on the drive I tried in the SR3.

Cheers mate
Tried running it but doesn't wanna unlock the controls even though they all show in windows just no response still
Just got the Immersion boards arrive though so work to do on it again but first i need to get outside to cut out some metal while we get a rare glimpse of that yellow ball and it's not raining

Depends, by default shell.exe will expect to be launched by systemlauncher.exe unless patched.

If you don't get dongle error, then you haven't got as far as unlocking the I/O board, as you'll be hit with a security error 2 or something similar.
