@neil1637: I agree that it will be a cool space for the cabs. The room is no more than 8 square meters or so, but I think I will be able to fit all my best games in there. One good thing is that there are no windows. One bad thing is that my flat is on the fourth floor with no elevator. Which brings me to @virtvic: the Centipede has made its way up the stairs. I fear I will never be able to get it down again.
@Danny: thanks mate, I am very happy with how the Arkanoid turned out. The "just one more go"-factor of the game is very high, so it gets a lot of play. And @PAC-MAN, you wanted more? Well...
Another cab just made it up the stairs!
This one has been in storage, and the thin protective tarp had somehow slid off it so it is rather dusty, but it plays well and it will clean up nicely.

I do have some pinball machines, but they are in the local pinball club at the moment. Firepower, Williams Indy, Farfalla and Zac Time Machine. A rule I have for the new flat is that all games should be consigned to the games room, and it is not really suited for pins. It is a stupid rule though, so I will most likely end up with a pin in my living room.

Not a stupid rule, I don't think. Not having them in your living space makes going into the games room feel special and exciting, somehow.
Ait, so this picture really makes it all worth it I think. I have no illusion that their interest will last for very long, and I apply no pressure whatsoever - but for these past few days the kids have been asking time and again to play Bubble Bobble. They have even come up with their own team name!

In my Compu-game cab I have a switcher which enables me to choose between JAMMA and my MAME machine. Here is my now all done customised game menu.
It basically consists in some reworked graphics that I originally did for the C64 ages ago as well as the Compu-Game logo which I vectorized for a control panel once, videos for each game and a nice three layer scrolling background. All done in the MALA layout tool, which I am sure caused some additional grey hairs in my beard.

An old friend made it into my arcade: Afterburner!
I have fond memories of playing this game when I was a kid. Whenever I went to the arcade in the late 80's, Afterburner was always the first game that caught my attention. I remember the cockpit as a very immersive experience. Truth be told, the game has not aged that well, but I still enjoy playing it.
I bought this particular cab as a project from Slowcade, and it has been sitting in my basement for quite a while. It is a heavy beast, but to be honest the build quality of the cab is not all that good. During an attempt to move it, the top part came loose from the base, so I had to do some rough repairs. It played well before the accident, but now it seems to have developed a problem. I have no sound and the lamps seem to be lit all the time. Fingers crossed that it is just an easy fix, but at least Afterburner is finally a part of my arcade lineup!
