I'm glad we only had to carry up the bottom section of the Afterburner this time

A new addition to Arch's Arcade. An Atari Ireland Time Pilot!

I had this game shipped from the north of Sweden of all places, and although it was a bit of a gamble it all went well. The cab is in pristine shape!

Of course there were some issues. The original Matsush*ta monitor was almost dead and had all sorts of problems, so I swapped in a better Hantarex one and now the game looks crisp and cool. I also replaced the wiggly joystick with a fresh and almost unused Wico, and the plan is to refurbish the old one. The only issue with the cab now is the rather dodgy looking marquee. I have ordered a new one from Muddymusic, so I'm really looking forward to getting that.

I love this game! The video game-like sounds! The frantic action! The time travel! 2001! I could go on!

The control panel looks very good for being from 1982. Some scruffs around the cone buttons, and light wear where the cpo folds over the edge, but nothing I can't live with. Does anybody know if the buttons were originally lit or flashing on this? The light is not hooked up at the moment, and there is nothing in the cp harness that suggests that they were. A bit strange putting light-up cone buttons in there without making use of them though...

The Afterburner had to go...

Luckily it went to a good home.

I've had a few issues with this cab, and while I have fixed some of them, I have hit the wall with others as the PCB is not fully working. Hopefully the new owner is able to get it playing.

I also sold the Egret 2 to my friend rtw a while ago. It did not really fit my arcade, and rtw is already making much more and better use of it than I ever did.

But new cabs are incoming, so there will be an update here soon.

Awright!

Spring is coming to Oslo, and what better way to celebrate that than to stay indoors to change the lineup in the arcade!

I have gotten rid of a couple of cabs and aquired another two. The Egret II and the Afterburner had to go to better and more caring homes, leaving room for no less than two of my absolute grail machines.

Robotron!

This cab has actually been undergoing restoration since 2013. I bought it off Slowcade as a project, and I have slowly restored it by repainting, stencilling and fidgeting with it on and off since then. Now it is finally done! I have had some issues with the original boards, so it is currently running a JROK FPGA card. What a crazy cool and disturbing game it is.

My Time Pilot also got a new marquee the other day courtesy of Muddymusic. Very happy with it, so thanks mate!

And then there is the Mario Bros. Does two cabs make a Nintendo row I wonder?

I am in love with this game when playing as a single player, and as a bonus there is the way the gameplay changes when there are two players. It turns into another game really. The cab is a converted DKJR., something I am quite happy with. The widebody would have been just that - too wide for my lineup. I never thought I would actually own one of these, so a big manhug goes out to Alpha1 who helped me get the deal.

On a sidenote, look at the slight difference in height and profile between the two Nintendo cabs. The Donkey Kong is a Japanese built version.

Oh, and a big thank you to rtw as usual for helping me carry the machines up four floors. Couldn't have done it without you mate. Rest assured that the lineup will stay like this for quite some time... although I do have room for one more cab.

It's wonderful to see the Robotron restored. It was a mess when I found it, painted black and converted to Street Fighter 2. I am very happy that it finally found the perfect home.

(And I'll get to play it in just some days!

Thanks for the kind words Arch, but don't forget that geekmiki helped as well, I'm not that strong

Mario looks a lot better now than when we carried it up, looking forward to playing it in just a few days!

Thanks guys! :)

I will host my first event for twenty friends this weekend, and I am dead scared to turn it on before that in case something breaks. The machines will be running for 8-10 hours+ then. Hope most of them make it through.

This weekend I hosted a party for a lot of friends at my place. One might call it the official grand opening of my arcade. For the first time I had everything working perfectly, and that for a stretch of almost twenty hours straight! A great evening with some serious gaming going on. All the machines got to see a lot of play, and there were some impressive scores on both Robotron and Time Pilot.

As a surprise, my girlfriend baked us this great wacka wacka cake! Yum!

This guy knows his Bubble Bobble!

The highlight of the evening was the four player Super Bomberman 2 tournament with 27 contestants! The winner got this prize!

The first of hopefully many great evenings at my arcade. It has been a struggle to get to this point, but this evening made it all worth it!
