Reused / stripped and black oxided a ton of these socket buttons from the cabs but wanted some
New for the joystick holders . Awesome company Accu, they come as black stainless but full in my opinion so sprayed a few to match all other metalwork on xenon.
Fitting this week. Comparison test on white foam as they come left side .

They did some funny button hole positions back in the day! To many
Sherbet dips !

And the finger marks on them buttons !
Buttons are all screwed , can fix the joysticks as the dust covers have saved them pretty much from the elements but nothing else has survived except harness.
The cab had been maimed before he left outside so probably added 8 extra buttons was originally a 3 button panel.
May blank the entire panel and start again with buttons.

Time has been against me with other jobs but had half an hour to second spray the shocker button screws and mount the sticks. Game select button respray plastikote white for comparison - closest to nos I was comparing too.

This was a bit of fun (love all aspects of painting / spraying) and intrigue with some perforated stainless steel I picked up on a job. 1mm hole
2mm apart on diagonal. Extremely close to the stenciling used by electrocoin on many cabinets including xenon.
Most of my Xenon side art is too good to replace but there is some occasional wear where I will consider a respray If I can get close enough (don’t think I am
Far away already with the red I chose)

Glad this is done , luckily on works time as finished a job a day early so was being paid ! Nothing salvageable on this apart from internal hinges and locating clip to pull in when fit. Those buttons were so seized they got drilled out.
Did another while in the swing of it, not quite as bad as previous.

Made a quick test stencil on some
Wood to redo some of the side
Stripes (ref picture below ) on one of the cabinets .
It had taken a scrape / gouge in its previous life in a snooker hall so want to restore.
Process
1) red ground (signal red plastikote)
2) perforated stencil 1mm
3) black satin plastikote

Looking good, I picked up a Xeon in 23 or 24,
it was project local where the guy bought all new buttons and sticks, a lcd (no crt) and a game elf.
Wasn’t in bad condition.
He had a millipede bezel made, and the joysticks were transparent blue and yellow with bubbles in them
There’s an idea for you (ducks quickly)

I have a crt. For it, and following your work on yours, which I’ll certainly refer too when doing mine.

I think on the speaker panel, I am missing one of the covers, at a guess right handside, do you have a spare at all?
Will keep my eye open for a spare blanking plate
But would be an easy job to make up which I may tackle at some point

Today I was looking at wooden support section underneath speaker metalwork.
I started noticing that this black chipboard support was regularly in poor shape and often broken on the cabinets I am fixing. The support is important for the strength of the cabinet and if not good the weight of the glass or removing monitor to rotate can cause damage to the metalwork. The wooden support is attached to the metal work with 4 wing nuts on the locators welded onto metal . I was removing the speakers to clean and also had a few to replace which had blown .
Making 3 replacements and a spare, I like to keep a supply of 18mm laminated chipboard most was from Damaged cabs and always comes in handy in supply.
This was an old back door repurposed.
