Hi,

having the last push to the finish line now. The sound issue my board was having,Mark at Retroclinic managed to nail it and sort it once and for all, while he was at it, i sent him another complete board set to fix up as a spare.

Here is a before and after of the monitor.

I Have all the parts restored ready ( apart from the PSU which is soon to be done) and now i have stripped the Enduro Racer for its pre assembly restoration of the cab.

The white powder mould that was everywhere i have sprayed with mould and mildew spray and it all vanished before my very eyes, very satisfying!

Next, after the cab had dried for a few days was to soak all the corners and edges with watered down 50/50 PVA glue, this is to stabilize, secure the laminations of the wood and prepare the corners for filler. I was really satisfied with the result, next day everything was solid.

Here is Mark on my spare board.

Updates soon, i'm all over this right now to get ready for a possible spot at Revival.

PLEASE can anyone identify these fixings! its the last parts for the cab that i need to find. I don't even know what to search for... I have searched for all sorts of search words, Blind fixing, dome security blank, tamper proof plain head and more i just cant find anything they are 20mm long M4. The length isn't too important 10mm or longer as i could cut them down. Anyone?

Could you use a coach bolt and grind off the square bit at the base of the thread if it gets in the way?

Thanks for the suggestion but these things are tiny. M4 x 20mm is not very big at all. if i could find some small coach bolts i would be happy to grind the square part off but these things must be available somewhere.

Hi, they secure a repair pannell to the bezel, i could use other fixings i guess like security torx ones but if i could find a supplier i would grab 100 or so for other projects too.

Might be worth emailing the pic to someone like Kay's Fasteners (they're on ebay too - bought lots from them) and see if they have them, or at least know what they're called.

Are they actually threaded M4? Are they held captive by a female thread in the lower part? How did you remove them?

If it's not a true thread I was going to suggest a hammer drive screw, but they are designed not to be removed.

I think I'd use an M4 coach bolt as it looks like the squared part of the shank would fit ok into the top part being secured so might not need to grind it down.

The middle part should have some artwork there like Space Harrier, they are usually coach bolts, pretty sure ages back now someone was looking for them for space harrier to fix the artwork on that part, so I'd fit ones that are like the original, I can take pics of my Space Harrier ones for you

Then the parts added each side I would use same type as it would match then and could look much better being a lower dome as they are too rounded anyway really

The Dome is only 2mm height, about 9mm wide and about 15mm long

I would look out for a replacement bezel if its broken under that, put a wanted ad up, you never know what someone has around. or if your happy to keep it, maybe get Olly to do artwork on Perspex like that but same size as the panel in centre is now, don't suppose the original artwork is under that?

Thanks Big10p, i sent Hafren Fasteners an email but they cant help, they are the daddy of fasteners so that's that.

Thanks outrun2, yer standard M4, there is a nut behind, i just unbolted them.

Thanks Bods, i looked at the space harrier pictures on the net (yours above dont seem to show on my pc) and i can see what you mean, looking at pictures of the Enduro Racer bezel, it just has 2 strips of yellow and no artwork there like Space Harrier. Ill get in touch with muddymusic and see if he can help. Would like to see your pictures though for the fixings, i sent you a pm.

Thanks Bartie, i did google slotbout but that returned coach bolts again. i may just get M4 coach bolts and make them fit as suggested.

Making good progress on the enduro Racer, updates very soon.

Hi Tom,
I was going to leave my side art original as it has been painted directly onto the cabinet , it is in average okay condition and presentable although faded. I probably would be interested in purchasing for a later date though

Just had some disappointing news, I have heard back from the volunteers, the teams driving the vans to collect the pledged games for the 2018 Revival Retro Event, unfortunately my area is just a little bit too far out of the way to be included, there just isn’t enough time to visit all the areas. It is quite a blow because my focus over the last few months has been finish this game and share it with you. Its the enthusiasts of today that would appreciate it more now than back in its day , these things just happen sorry.
