Fantastic work so far mate; I hadn't noticed the mood lighting update; that looks very nice indeed
I've often thought about how I might have my setup when I get around to it and one idea I came up with for that 'authentic' holiday arcade experience revolves around the fact that in many of our favourite seaside resorts, the
arcades are gone but the
scenery isn't...what I mean is whilst I was hammering 10p's into Super Sprint with my Dad, out of the corner of my eye I could see the promenade or the pier or the seafront at Blackpool and the people walking past. My idea is to get a HD camera and mount it in a suitable place on the seafront at some of these resorts and well, just film hours of footage of seaside life passing by; families doing what families did whilst we were all indoors getting sun deprivation; basically recreate life just
outside the entrance to the arcade.
I could project the footage onto one wall, floor to ceiling, have the lighting up a relative level and switch all the machines on; maybe even layer in an almost imperceptible sound track of the seafront noises and arcade ambience.
Just one idea I've been toying with; not particularly well developed (you'd have to figure out a way of randomising the footage fade in/out and have different times of day that actually played depending upon what time of day/night it actually was..) but anyway - game on!
