It's a great game mate, the emulation is pretty decent now and should only get better with time. Buying this cab was the main reason I joined this forum, I lived on noodles for a month or 2 after buying it.

Robotech passed by a while back when I wasn't so busy, the first thing he said after playing ID was he now want's an ID cab! When I told him how much I've spent on this cab I dunno if that put him off a bit.

That's a US part number - you must be looking at the US manual. Make sure you look for the UK version..

The part number you need is 601-5699UK-01 which is M16x100 c/w 1 nut (there is a -03 number which is c/w 3 nuts but it doesn't really matter which you get).

edit:

The UK iD single cab manual isn't available online, but the UK twin version will be the same for most purposes and Sega have been using the same basic parts on drivers since the early/mid nineties..

http://d2q2ufly9wqg0k.cloudfront.net/sharedfiles/Initial%20D%203%20TWIN%20Manual_0.pdf

Thanks for the info and the manual. I contacted Sega and they have them in stock and emailed me the same manual as you have linked to so I have the right part numbers now. I downloaded the original one from somewhere else before I bought the machine so must have been the US one as you say.

One other quick noob question, sorry. Looking at the manual (see picture below) what do the numbers mean in the Component Ref column?

Thanks for the feet pictures Vamino. I was considering making some of my own as Giz10p aren't planning to get any more in stock and I didn't hear back from Andy at AGS. I have emailed Sega and they have them in stock so I will be placing an order with them. Minimum £25 but I am looking at getting some screws and have a clunking noise from the steering as discussed here so need a new rubber stopper for the steering mech.

I had never played ID before buying this cabinet. Only had 2 nights on there as I am still working through minor issues but having great fun on there.

The music is fantastic but I now need to get the sub and Gullwing speakers connected up although I was hoping it would be a bit more plug and play than it seems to be to get these running.

On that note Vamino which seller did you use on eBay for the cable and connectors? Did they have all kinds of connectors as I need some to replace broken ones on my DDR machine.

The component ref generally shows the quantity of that item required for another associated item (shown in brackets). For example in the top row, item 201, four of these bolts are used on item 2, which I believe is ASSY HANDLE MECHA detailed on the previous page of the manual.

Makes perfect sense now. I could see the quantity and the screw/washer part number on the diagram like in the below image circled in red. But for some reason didn't associate this with the component ref.

So for item 203 in the previous picture it's now obvious that 2 of the 5 are used to attach item number 9 and 3 of the 5 are used to attach item number 6 which is also shown in the diagram below.

Thanks for the help again.

I forgot to add that I bought other stuff off the op, I also had to travel up north to get it and had to dismantle the cab to get it out. So in reality it cost a bit more than the cash I handed over. But I'm not complaining at all.

Well, originally I bought some mate'n'lock connectors off ebay, and a selection of generic 18swg cable. If I was to do it again I'd have bought the connectors + pins from Giz10p to keep the cabling original.

You will probably need a dual amp if you intend to upgrade the speakers. On a future Mame project I'll be trying to use 2 x single channel amps as I have some spare amps/mixers and whatnot from parted out cabs.

USA Scud Race has 2 single channel amps in this config:
s-l225.jpg

Finding these amps is a lot easier and much cheaper than finding a working dual amp from a Daytona 2. I've got a few of these spare so will tinker with them when I eventually start a mame driver project I have the parts for. Luckily I have the Scud Race schematics and can cross reference things with my Scud Race and Sega Rally 2 cabs for the wiring etc.

hey...sorry to post this on your thread mate
smiley2.gif

I was using an older version of demul...just downloaded the latest...:

I thought like most emulators the version number would go up , but demul uses dates for its releases lol....

also around the 50 second mark you can just catch the interference or what ever it is on the left side of the screen...this is all over the screen and starting to bug me....you cant see it all the time but its there....

No worries mate, you can post what you like in this thread.
smiley1.gif

It's difficult to make out the interference, but I can just see it. Does it happen all of the time or is it intermittent? I'm no expert but it may be a grounding issue or could be related to interference on the VGA cable.

Are you using any adaptors (DVI-VGA etc)? is it a quality branded cable? Have you tried using another output on your GPU? How long is the cable and is it passing by any power supplies/cabling? Hopefully you can get to the bottom of that issue.

I should make a vid of me playing ID on my cab, I'm still learning how
to drive fast using the gear change techniques through the corners. I'm not slow by any means but I am far from being fast!

ID3 really is a great game, how does it play on your setup?

ID is probably considered the hardest, I think ID v2 has the best music selection but is a bit easier to play, ID v3 is the best of both games minus some of the music from v2.

its there all the time, using a dvi to vga adapter which came with the card, ive tried a different vga cable and ran it outside of the cab , instead of past the power inputs etc and it did the same....ive tried wiggling cables around the monitor to see if it improves or gets worse...no change, the cable is around 1.5m to 2m long.....ive got a brand new 17 inch crt pc monitor so ill give that a try aswell to see what happens....

ID 3 plays a lot better with the newer version of demul....ive also got ID1 and ID2 on there aswell, so ill be giving them a run when i get the chance....

Is there no way to change the music tracks in between races? i can change at the start of the game but not once ive had a race.....

The only way you can change it is by going back to the race selection screen again, when I play I usually just keep it on the default music as the music changes every 2 or so races.

There's clean enough to have it in the house and there's Gary/Outrun2 clean. Unfortunately I have a long way to go until my cabs are up to Gary's standard, although I'm pretty happy with the first side of the F355 bar the missing base art.

When you are ready for an ID cab let me know, I've decided I'm gonna reshell mine after i get the replacement Jp metalwork powdercoated so will have most of the bits for either an assembled cab or for a project if you fancy it. It was going to be an OR2 but will gladly revive an Initial D cab.

By the way, how's your Scud Race coming along?

I haven't had much time to spare recently but have been collecting parts and doing little bits when I get chance
I re capped the monitor chassis and replaced the sub last time I had some time off work it will get there eventually
smiley1.gif

if I can get my scud to the same standard as your cabs I will be very happy
gary/outrun2's cabs must look like they have just rolled of the production line
smiley20.gif

I think you should just let me have your initial d cab I am sure I would be ok with just one kidney

This will probably be among the last few updates to this thread, once the ID2 pop card has been sourced then I'll hopefully post a final picture.

Well this cab now belongs to Robotech, I'm pretty sure he still has both kidneys!

As it's former daddy I felt compelled to try and find the missing bits in order to complete it. I recently got lucky and imported a few white Japanese seatbacks. One of the seatbacks looked like it had ID2 art underneath some really nice Jp ID3 art, so I sacrificed the nice ID3 art and found some beautiful Jp ID2 art hiding there.....and underneath the ID2 art is some Jp ID1 art but it'll stay under there as Jp ID2 art is very scarce to say the least.

So tonight I visited Shane's and we did some tinkering, gaming and coffee drinking.
I really enjoyed the tinkering and gaming session today, thanks for the nice hospitality mate.

Here's a couple of the pictures I took, the ID2 cab looks so nice now. The Jp topper and Jp seatback look the business. You have a lovely setup Shane, I hope you don't mind me posting the picture of your current line up.
