Spent some time on the monitor yesterday
Fitted the chassis
As Popeye is in the ' cab clinic ' I tested the monitor on a DK which is sat patiently awaiting it's resto
Really pleased with the picture - crispy crunch!
Anyhow, the B+ voltage was slightly high (should be 108VDC)
After a slight tweak
Job done!

Did you wash your monitor with a hose then ?

It's just wiped over with a damp sponge and dried with clean, dry rags although Mr Sheen did make a brief appearance

A pic of Nintendo's attempt to try and Beef up the base of the cab. Not seen this before, using cut offs from other cabs in the making but perfect if looking for a Mario/DK Junior paint match!!
Also cleaned up my last Sanyo monitor at the weekend for Donkey Kong, just need to rebuild the chassis etc

I've never known dust like the stuff found on monitors. The black sh*t gets everywhere!!!
Small update, really don't have the time to do a detailed, worded resto on this one.
Been working on this for 4/5 days on and off. The cabinet is prepped for spraying, the inside is painted, back door is finished. Literally just sprayed a primer test patch on the cab to make sure it doesn't have any reaction for the following reason. This cabinet is actually painted from the factory and is the first Nintendo I've restored that has had this finish as they're normally Formica, possibly cost cutting who knows? There were a few give aways, firstly there was no hot plastic smell when I was sanding the surfaces that I've got so familiar with over the years. The second give away was the reverse side of the speaker vent, blue overspray pictured below and the third give away, when I pulled the side art off the right hand side...it took a bloody great load of paint with it!!
I'll update when it's sprayed
