Rich - in your tutorial video you note that at one stage GroovyMame was running Mame in interlaced mode - and that you could tell because the text in the game config menu (TAB from Mame) text was sharp instead of blurred.

I think that I'm getting the same issue.. but first question... why is running in interlaced mode a bad thing? If the picture is sharper is that not a good thing?

Second question... how do you stop the games running interlaced?

Thanks in advance....

change the mode lines.. ini file mame
switch res
super resolutions
native resolutions

and still messing around now
demul... does it if it is sitting on the desk top...
but if placed on c drive in program files i get nice smoothed out picture looks like 360

Running in interlaced mode won't give you a proper resolution, it'll be 640x480i so chances are the ratio will be wrong. You want it running in 240p for a solid clean picture with correct ratio and refresh rate. From my experience it normally means you have generated the modelines before you made the switch to 15Khz, or you've backed out from 15Khz to 31Khz then back into 15Khz without regenerating them. It's a simple fix, whilst in 15Khz start the vmmaker.exe application from the D: drive, generate and apply the modelines using the buttons on the top left.

That worked perfectly!

I now have blurry Mame configuration text but the game picture is super sharp!

(I was testing with Bomb Jack. It's quite subtle but the most notable on the second screen with the Greek temple in the background. Previously the columns in the temple were a little bit blurry but now they are sharp and really well defined).

Thanks Rich - really appreciate your help.

I have a PC waiting for a build so I'll update it all soon, apologies for the delay!

Any feature requests? I'll be adding a randomiser mode to stop endless menu hunting, it'll load up a random game then if you haven't hit any controls for 15 minutes will load another one at random

More curiosity than feature requests. I have a machine I've been meaning to rebuild for a long while and I've finally got some time to do it, and I'd like to go with W7 Embedded simply for EWF. It doesn't need networking, doesn't need Explorer, doesn't need a whole swathe of services running - literally once it's all set up the only way of making changes I want to have to pull the disk out. I'm even tempted to disable shift keys completely and hook up a reset button so changing games requires a reset of the whole PC.

I have downloaded the image twice
Rufus two versions
And keeps failing at 96 percent...

Saying failed to extract iso...

I will keep trying...

I think my pc I’m using is the culprit...
As it won’t run anything won’t run my
Win7 anyway
Didn’t run another usb stick it just hangs
After loading files?

Just did a successful usb bootable with yumi

Same thing loads files then hangs...

If I use the rufus failed at 96 I get the win 10 logo
Then and error message
Your computer ran into difficulties..with a sad smiley ...
I think my hard drive could be the culprit..

Sorry haven't read the whole thread but have you checked your bios settings?

Have you tried disabling secure boot? If you let me know which model MB your using I can have a look at the settings for you.

Thanks so much for this, Chunksin

This is exactly what I am after.

I have a couple of questions. I would like to upgrade MAME. My set is currently on 0.220. I can't see the Upgrade MAME option mentioned above?

Also, I am using a card that was already previously signed 'Calamity'. So is there a way of skipping this step of the setup Unfortunately it is a 4000 series so the setup opens the PDF but doesn't move on even after manually installing the driver (and modelines).

Cheers
